To God almighty for providing us with our his blessings. Specifically it was the pilgrims who were the first European settlers here in the new world who celebrated the very first Thanksgiving. It was a day of prayer, feasting, fellowship, and gladness. But mostly it was a day in which they gave thanks to God for his goodness and blessings for which they had been blessed.

The native American Indians were friendly. The land they had settled upon was fertile. And most importantly they were free from oppressive Church of England and its strict rules concerning how one was allowed to worship God and interpret the Scriptures. They were free from life directly under the rule of the British crown. They were free to create a life for themselves in this, the new world.

Thanksgiving could literally be reworded "giving thanks". For it was and still is a day for which we have much to give God our thanks for. ;)

It is about family. My family is thankful for being able to share a dinner together. It's one of the few times we can make plans to get family from all over together. In my case, some came down from Canada to be with us here in the USA although the holiday is celebrated in Canada on a Monday in October. I get to celebrate it twice a year, unlike most people...a good thing.

HAPPY TURKEY-DAY!
Regards,

I hope everyone (except Mazonemayu  ) had a good Thanksgiving! Mine was excellent!

I went to a lake house that my Grandparents rented and they drove down here and we were all there for Thanksgiving! Even my older brother made it (he lives out of the house now) before he moves to LA on Dec. 5

Hey my wife and I are American and we have no religion! :D

So as a happy heathen I guess I'm thankful just the same. I'm married to a wonderful woman, I'm healthy, make enough money to live comfortably, and I appreciate the world I live in more and more everyday.

Happy Thanksgiving guys!
