The xbox one s controllers have a firmware update to add BT LE support. I'm betting that is what broke compatibility. I have one with older firmware that works fine wirelessly.

Has anyone tried to assemble BlueRetro?
to connect one controller, you just need to solder four wires to the ESP32

Yep. 8bitdo and Mayflash adapters also affected.

"Note: Xbox Bluetooth controllers on the latest firmware released in Sep, 2021 are NOT supported any longer, due to their bluetooth change from Classic to BLE.

*Other products which are affected by this change also include: USB Adapter for PS classic, NES Receiver, SNES / SFC Receiver, Classic Receiver & MD Receiver."

But, version 2 appears and saves the day.

Update: Version 2 does NOT work with the WingmanSD. They are looking to see if a firmware update is possible.

I've used version 1 with WingmanSD - it did work. I had the dongle configured to X-input 360 mode.

Update: Just bought a version 2 from Amazon:

Didn't know the sticks could be swapped, how is this done?
Select+L3: Left TS is main.
Select+R3: Right TS is main.

Thanks!!! Need the beta firmware installed for this?

Just tried Outtrigger with swapped sticks, so good! Now all they need is adjustable deadzone and the SD will be pretty darn close to perfect
Beta firmware is not required.

Goddammit are you for real? Damn if I just paid $50 for my Xbox One S controller to work wirelessly with my DC and it doesn't I am gonna be pissed. It already had a firmware update, and I even took it over to my brothers house on Christmas specifically to check that it was already fully updated and it said it was.

Well that is just great lol, I am glad it can be reversed, But I don't actually own an Xbox one or Series X/S console. Bought the controller for PC gaming. Well this explains why it doesn't work with the Bluetooth USB adapter I recently bought in December as well. Damn...

I will buy you version 2 of the 8bitdo adapter - as a gift for your dedicated work within the Dreamcast community. PM your mailing address and I will have Amazon ship one out. :D

Ok it came in today! So after playing tons of games with it today getting a feel for it here is what is going on so far. Right now I am using a USB cable to connect my Xbox One S controller. But it honestly seems to have some input lag. I was hoping it would not but it is definitely noticeable enough for me. I tried to find shorter cables so not sure if the USB is the problem like too long or something?

I also opened it up and removed the Saturn cable from it and patched the hole with a little hot glue. Then I hot glued the adapter to the left side of the console and it is looking much more tidy and kinda bad ass now.

I did try an Afterglow PS3 controller and the face buttons were rotated counter clockwise and it was really crazy. A PS Classic controller only made the D-Pad up input depressed a ton. Damn was hoping to use it for Bleem games but will just stick with normal PS3 controller.

I did play some Gundam 0079 Side story. It was actually way more playable now. Still have to move with D-Pad, but I swapped analog to right stick and it became infinitely more playable now that I can move and aim at same time. Damn was really getting into it in the 2nd level able to go toe to toe with other Gundams in up close combat.

I played some Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, Soldier of Fortune and Kiss Psycho Circus. Wow it felt surreal playing with right stick and was pretty decent despite a bit of input lag. Really made playing UT against bots super easy lol.

In racing games the input lag was pretty noticeable in Speed Devils for sure. Hopefully it is just an issue with my USB cable and hopefully if I can get it working over Bluetooth with the 8Bitdo adapter plugged into it then it will be more responsive.
