I would love a mod like that, more than anything I would love a mod to be able to use the analog stick to control my character, it takes some time to get used to those funky controls

TBH if we're modding game controls, then it should take advantage of the dual analog sticks. Something needs to give to get the dual stick functions working, and clearly controller developers don't give a toss about actually improving the DC's controller properly.bjankins1 wrote:I would love a mod like that, more than anything I would love a mod to be able to use the analog stick to control my character, it takes some time to get used to those funky controls
I'd be keen to see how far the GTA2 camera and gameplay could be bent to emulate GTA3 more closely. It would definitely not be a perfect match, but it would be cool to see how the Dreamcast and GTA2 assets hold up with that kind of mod.

I will immediately answer any questions
1) it's a dreamcast
2) this is a Tomb Raider 1 game on the openlara engine
3) this controller from gamecube is connected to dreamcast

I know your controller method works great for dual stick. Sadly it's beyond my ability to create and there's currently nobody building them.megavolt85 wrote:bjankins1 wrote:I would love a mod like that, more than anything I would love a mod to be able to use the analog stick to control my character, it takes some time to get used to those funky controls

The only other thing you need to do in those videos is prove that the second analog stick isn't just using the face button inputs. Perhaps with a video of Quake III or something that has enough controller options to prove the DC can do dual stick and keep the face buttons free.
It's great to see your work in action. Always impressive.

The video in the first post for GTA III on DC has to be fake. It is trivial to surf old IGN through the many cached versions of the page on archive.org
Game videos like this would have been posted in the previews section of the dreamcast section of the site. If you look through the previews in alphabetical order, there is no entry for GTA III. For reference here is the "G" part of the preview section as of June 2002. There is an entry for GTA II but not for GTA III.

Nah its fake, we're getting into unlikely scenarios to explain why IGN would have a video of a hugely anticipated game yet not feature it on their website. Especially while the video description itself says the content on the channel is not real...

Exactly lol. I pointed it out immediately and it still baffles me that people can't use critical thinking and put 2 + 2 together. The uploader of the video even said so in the damn description haha, what more info do people need?
