Adding Artwork to CDI images

Hello, Ive been trying to figure out how to add artwork to some English patched CDI's on my GDEMU. Can someone guide me to a tutorial or give a simplified explanation of how to extract and rebuild a CDI?

There's a decently written guide on Reddit, I followed the steps and managed to get artwork to display for Xenocider, but unfortunately it never got past a boot loop on my GDemu, so your mileage may vary with this kind of thing.

I struggled with this as my game goes into a loop on boot. Any ideas?
