Greetings! I've bought a new spu3200, and installed it, but for some odd reason, the motor that works moving the lenses back and forth to read the disc appears not to work, it won't move, or go very slowly to the beginning of the reading process, with a clanking sounds. I removed the solder point as advised by the product, and put everything back in its place, what could I be missing?
So, the product is a SPU3200 that you can find pretty much everywhere (https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61I ... SX679_.jpg). I removed the solder point as pointed out by the product's description, then proceeded to reinsert the flex cable and later off mount it as the previous one was. I checked if the screws were too tight, but they didn't seem to be. I've tried tinkering with this one, (https://gyazo.com/cbb53d24dea7c46194ef62c946b0c718) but I gather no effect. After reassembly and trying, it rotates the disc, but the laser won't move back and forth on that rod.
Ah yes, this is a model 0 PAL, I've heard that it is important to say such thing.

Re: Non-moving lenses motor
I would highly recommend replacing the drive with a Optical Drive Emulator such as (Gdemu, USBGdrom, or MODE). Unless you really want to keep it as stock as possible and use discs, unfortunately I dont know how to advise on that.GMProxy wrote:Greetings! Re: Non-moving lenses motor
I believe this from refurbished lens from chinese factory or else which is mean you don't have any luck with this. I bought 3 lens for Sega Saturn and all of them never work. My advice is to look for new or used optical drive. Which version you have? Maybe I can help you because i have 2 spare lens I think.

This is a Samsung drive from a Model 0 (Pal Spain), kinda sad that those lens won't work, I've tinkered with the idea of gdemu, but it's expensive right nowDarkSynbios wrote:I believe this from refurbished lens from chinese factory or else which is mean you don't have any luck with this. Re: Non-moving lenses motor
I'd recommend http://3do-mnemo.com/How_to_buy.htm - USB GDRom is about 150, which is the same as a clone GDEmu these days. Given the cost of DC Games and not having to burn games and deal with laser assembly crap its a worthy investmentGMProxy wrote:This is a Samsung drive from a Model 0 (Pal Spain), kinda sad that those lens won't work, I've tinkered with the idea of gdemu, but it's expensive right nowDarkSynbios wrote:I believe this from refurbished lens from chinese factory or else which is mean you don't have any luck with this.
