Controller Alternatives

Post by ScDream »

I have seen new DC controllers in the $17 range, on average, not including the TremorPak or the VMU. I saw the Quantum Figher Pad on sale here:

http://www.japanvideogames.com/Quantum- ... 200090.htm

and wonder if it's as-good, or if there are any other controllers anyone recommends. I would also like to know if anyone has comments on smaller/lighter controllers for young kids hands to hold.

Thanks.

My cuz is 3 and he doesn't seem to have any problems using the controller. I don't know of any smaller ones.

I have both the quantum fighter pad and the astropad (2 of the controllers made by inter-act) and they both suck monkey balls... there's NOTHING like the original controller... the only positive thing about them is that they have autofire.

I have a Quantum controller for PS1 and it sucks too. the X button doesn't work in most games.

OK, is there a difference in VMU (there are about one zillion of them on eBay at the moment), and in TremorPaks (I see them for average $.99)?

Thanks.

Uh-oh it looks like I also need some schooling on the dance-floor pads - which and where to get?

Thanks all!

I found a cheap (non-Sega knockoff) dance pad. Check.

I found cheap-ish VMUs for my controllers and rumbler packs. Check.

Now.

I don't see any maracas for Samba de Amigo cheap, looks like I'll have to struggle through eBay for them - if anyone reading wants to PM me a deal, please let me know and we can PayPal it up.

I found a post that listed a few titles that used the keyboard, but I am wondering if anyone here can point me to a definitive list for the year 2010 (the short blurbs I have seen are like from 2002). I'd really like to use the keyboard and mouse for stuff, if I know what they can be used for.

Thanks!

Maracas aren't cheap. Tough luck. You will have to spend a shitload of money for them even if they are 3rd party ones, never saw them below 70 bucks. The keyboard + mouse combo can be used to play FPS games, such as quake 3, unreal tournament, soldier of fortune and outtrigger, and the keyboard alone can be used in PSO, and it's almost a requirement to play online... typing with the joystick is hard as fuck
