Hey guy's, I have heard that a few people have replaced their stock joystick with one from a 360. How easy would this be to do, and could somebody explain to me what all I will need to do to succesfully complete the operation.
My joystick on mine is squeaky as hell, and I use some kind of lotion to lubricate it to keep it from being so damn loud whilst playing games, but when I get down on some DOA2 or some Shmup's or FPS games, it can be very annoying, so I just put my headphones into my PSP and listen to some music to drown out the sound.
Any tips would be very appreciated here. Thanks a lot guy's.

Re: Help!!! 360 joystick on DC controller mod
I will have my 360 replacement thumbsticks in a few days. I will let you know how it goes. If I can get it to work I am doing it to all my DC controllers.

Re: Help!!! 360 joystick on DC controller mod
Hey thanks alot. I will have to canabalize my 5 year old 360 controller I use on my PC though, as I don't have time to order any spare sticks.
I reckon I could use one stick on my stock DC controller, and one on my purple Nyko controller. I broke they joystick on it 2 months ago, after dropping it on the floor. So maybey I can try and refix it, as the first time I tried fixing it the stick accidentaly got glue stuck inside it. Here is a video of the same kind of controller. Adam reviewed it, and talked about how cheep they felt.

Re: Help!!! 360 joystick on DC controller mod
So I am to impatient to wait for the thumbsticks I ordered to show up. I decided to see if the local game store I have bought a lot of stuff from had any broken controllers and they gave me a 360 and ps2 controller.
After about 2 hours of monkeying around I got the 360 thumbstick to work and I also put in the 360 trigger springs to make them stiffer for driving games. It is fucking awesome. You have to do a lot of shaving on the 360 thumbstick and a very little bit on the DC thumbstick shaft. I plan on doing this to 3 more controllers and I already have a idea on how to do it different so you only have to shave the 360 thumbstick.
I am also going to try and figure out a way to use the a,b,x,y buttons from the 360 controller just because they look cooler.
I did not try using a Playstation thumbstick yet because I like the concave shape of the 360 one better but I did take a PS2 controller apart and look at it just because I had a broken one. It doesn't look like it would be any harder to use a PS thumbstick if you prefer the shape of them. I will probably make one just to verify it works.
Cliff Notes:
You can make a 360 thumbstick work on a Dreamcast controller if you aren't scared to cut some shit up.

Re: Help!!! 360 joystick on DC controller mod
Awesome! Could you take some pictures of the process please? This will be my first real mod I do on anything, so I want to get it right. My 360 controller still works, so I don't want to break it if I don't have to!
Btw, that is briliant about using the 360 trigger springs! I hope you can get the buttons working on it from the 360 too. Man, I am so excited, this should make playing the games much more comfortable.
