but for real the wii is apart of this current group of consoles. this does not mean that its as powerful or that it belongs. we have a wii and 360 and i hate both. ok maybe hate isnt the right word. they both have a handful of good games but i couldnt recommend that anyone buy a wii for $199 or a 360 elite for 300. just isnt worth it. i would tell people to buy the wii at $149 and the 360 elite at about $200. i feel that nintendo has raped their customers from the get go. the wii was never worth 250 to me. if that wasnt bad enough they waited for ever to lower the price. i cant really blame them because morons like us bought them for 250 all that time. hell some people even paid more for them.

Like i said at the beginning of this topic, i owned the 3, so im not talking shit. I agree with gary like i said wii isnt netx gen, yet theres one thing i disagree: i think the price is justified. Even if its just a xbox without the great games (xD) etc.. The motion control is worth some money, both for the quality of the device (the remote) and the technology that lays inside. Its sure worth its price. Whats wrong with the price, is that it didnt decreased just like the ps3 and 360 did.. AFAIK, and correct me if im wrong(i dont check everyday since i dont give a crap about wii) it still sells at the price it did at launch day, whereas both ps3 and 360 cut their price 3 times(IIRC) and every time by 100$.

And thats not specific of the 360 and ps3. Thats something that happens to all console... PCs... TVs... With time, they loose value.. But idk wtf does nintendo think.. 3 years has it been, isnt it? And still 250 wtf <_<

well doc i disagree 100%, the motion control is only good for a few games. for the rest it breaks the whole experience. im playing the new super mario bros right now. just got it from gamefly. they make you wobble the controller to make mario spin up in the air. wtf! why? this game would be way better using the gamecube controller. so i cant say its worth paying to have a bunk ass control scheme shoved down my throat. i will give the controller credit though. the few games that make sense using it for are great. this controller is bad ass for golf and bowling. it works good for shooting a basketball on wii sports resort. as far as the price? are you fucking kidding me? its a souped up gamecube. its like nintendo repacked the cube and sold it for more money. the DC was only $200 at launch and i thought that was a fair price.

you did touch on what really pissed me off about the wii price point. that is all the other systems seen price cuts and had 10 times the tech. but nintendo just kept raping folks until a few months back when they cut the price by $50, making it 200 for a new wii. at this point in time i feel the wii is worth about $150. it has two few good games and bull shit controls. you will end up playing your new wii far less than a new 360 or ps3 id bet anything on that. and you can get a 360 for the same price explain to me how thats a fair price. sure the 360 wont have a hard drive but neither does the wii.

Exactly, i was talking about the controller itself. And i also agree, even if i forgot to mention it, most games doesnt use it well. To be honest thats why i only enjoyed playing bowling and tennis, wii sports that came with the console.. I had zelda, red steel (1), and a bunch more where the control was even worse than those last two i dont even remember their names. But i had around 10 games. And you said it gary, we agree: wiimote = wi(i)n lol but most games screws up..

So thats why i dont like it: 250 bucks for playing bowling and tennis, thats a bit expensive for me..

Also we all forgot to mention that device isnt even able to play dvd.. Not even music cdrs.. So you cant even consider it as an entertainment system for your living room.

You REALLY have to be in deep love with the controls, like the few games that are worth on wii to consider buying one, or like the stuff thats on the homebrew channel. I think thats a pretty objetive description everybody should agree with..

My next gen consoles:

PS3: 2nd YLOD in less than a year
360: 4 DVD Drives failed, RROD x2, eventually banned lol

I am over it now.

Sega Dreamcast ftw.

Wii: A recycled Gamecube with motion controls, dated graphics and lame novelty software.

PS3: Overpriced Blu-Ray player, some good exclusives but games still cost too much and have mediocre quality.

360: Great library. Lousy quality hardware.

This is why I hope SEGA will get back into the console business someday or maybe sooner.(I hope.)


I have both a Saturn and Dreamcast. My Saturn since 1997! They both work perfectly!!!

Nah. Not from what I remember.

The Sega 32X suffered from serious manufacturing problems. One of the main problems it had was that the cartridge pins were built incorrectly not properly supporting the weight of the 32X games, meaning sometimes if you plugged in a cart, the game would often malfunction and crash.

Another was that some of the units themselves were so poorly build that they wouldn't even operate! My cousin owned one and never got it to work.

I think whoever made the decision to NOT buy the new consoles on the market have saved themselves a lot of time, money, and aggrevation.

They do not offer anything new in the sense of gaming. It's just a continuation of the stale and uncreative tactics used in the Sixth Generation of console (Dreamcast excluded of course).
