Using Bitfunx's newest Dreamcast HDMI adapter, I was able to play Last Blade 2 - Heart of the Samarai (U), Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (U) & Gunbird 2 (U) in 240p with the adapter switch in the RGBS poistion. The first two games do not support VGA (yet). Picture was quite good. I can confirm, the adapter upscales its final output to 1080p 60Hz.
In VGA, everything looked really nice and I didn't see any issues with 240p Test Suite.
RGB 480i display is not as good, but playable. This is a mode you shouldn't have to use for actual gameplay. VGA or 240p is the way to go.

Re: 240p Game Support - New HDMI Cable
Thank you for this! I have been looking for a review on it. How does the picture quality compare to the original model?

Re: 240p Game Support - New HDMI Cable
I don't have the original model, but I'm guessing far better. Every TV is a little bit different. I'm making this my permanent Dreamcast video solution, so I just fired all my other HDMI hardware.amazimvader wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 3:24 pm Thank you for this! Re: 240p Game Support - New HDMI Adapter
Can you please upload a picture or video of the video quality of the new Bitfunx hdmi adapter MoeFoh? Also does this new Bitfunx adapter gets hot like the earlier Bitfunx hdmi adapters during long play sessions?

Re: 240p Game Support - New HDMI Adapter
It's warm to touch, not hot. Not sure a picture will do it justice. The price is around $20 (US) on AliExpress. Fire up 240p Test Suite and have a look if you upgrade. The colors are bright and vibrant and blacks are the darkest I have ever seen on my Dreamcast. For once, the aspect ratio looks correct (I use 4:3). I have not noticed any appreciable lag, yet. The one con is how far the adapter and cable stick out of the back - so the placement of your Dreamcast may need adjusted.Retrofan21 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 4:20 am Can you please upload a picture or video of the video quality of the new Bitfunx hdmi adapter MoeFoh? Re: 240p Game Support - New HDMI Adapter
I could be wrong, but it does feel like the adapter is scanning the Dreamcast's DTV VGA signal correctly, instead of scanning using the the VESA standard, which of all the low-cost cables/boxes & flat screen TV's do. That means it's working more like an OSSC with the Dreamcast profile installed.
Dreamcast DTV VGA -> HDMI Adapter -> 1080p 60Hz Signal

Re: 240p Game Support - New HDMI Adapter
Ever heard of Gaia Master? Fire that up and use some of the cards that have crazy-animation (i.e. Black Spear, Land Crush, Fissure.) And see if the adapter crashes or not. Every adapter I've tried either soft-resets for 20 seconds, or completely crashes and won't re-sync with the DC until it power-cycles. Incredibly frustrating, and I'm not sure why this even happens! It doesn't appear to be a resolution issue to my eye.

Re: 240p Game Support - New HDMI Adapter
I'm not sure I can accurately answer your question. The game did startup in RGB mode (switch in RGB position), so maybe you could play it that way?qtYami wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 5:14 pm Ever heard of Gaia Master? Maybe we can get @ateam to translate this one?
