I also discovered that booting with Codebreaker first for most of the games that were giving me issues forced those games into 60Hz, which was also awesome!

That said, I still had 3 games left that I was trying to force into 60Hz that didn't work with Codebreaker:
  • F1 Racing Championship (60Hz can be selected in-game, but was hoping to force it)
  • Toy Racer (60Hz can be selected in-game, but was hoping to force it)
  • Monaco Grand Prix 2 (no 60Hz option, only outputs 50Hz)
Of the three games, F1 and Toy Racer technically work, but with my Retrotink I have to select 60Hz then toggle the power to the Retrotink on/off to get it to work so I was hoping someone knows a way to force those to boot in 60Hz.

As for Monaco Grand Prix 2, that's the only game I have labeled as PAL that I can't seem to force to 60Hz at all...maybe there's a specific Codebreaker code that works?
Okay, try this one for now...

Toy Racer (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Locked) [GDI].zip
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=down ... ShV4P0RgLF

This will lock the game to 60hz NTSC no matter what. I spent some time trying to remove the 50/60hz selector prompt, but was unsuccessful and don't have time to dig deeper right now.

As a result, no matter which option you select, the game will always boot and stay locked to 60hz NTSC over S-Video, Composite, and RGB.

Let me know how it works for you.

Wow, thanks for this! I can give this a try later today :D

Would be awesome if you were able to look at the other two as well, but either way I really appreciate it!

You're welcome.

Here's another to try...

Man, you work fast, many thanks!

I guess that just leaves Racing Simulation 2: Monaco Grand Prix. The only thing I could find was a single forum post (I think it might have been here somewhere) that mentioned that this game only worked in 60Hz over VGA and it couldn't be forced over composite/s-video.

Maybe. Maybe not... let me know :)

Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Locked) [GDI].zip

I tested all three of these using DCDigital HW2 in Cable Detect mode (while also set to Direct Mode), then converting HDMI to Component into my BVM. As a result, I am not entirely positive if they behave exactly the same when using true Composite/S-Video. However, based on all my previous tests using this same setup, the behavior is identical.

Lastly, it's important to note that if these games tied any of their logic to the video output frequency, there could be breakage. I'd expect this to be a non-issue with games that already supported 60hz, though.

The last one I need to do is F1 World Grand Prix II.

Awesome!! Going to try all of these later tonight and let you know the results!

I do know that F1 Grand Prix II booted in 60Hz just fine for me when booting with Codebreaker (I think it had a menu option for 60Hz as well, but I forget).

I can't post the list 'til later, but maybe you'd be interested in taking a look at patching the games that have in-game options for 60Hz and work when I force them with Codebreaker? Essentially, it would rule if I could remove the step of having to either select the menu option in-game or boot using Codebreaker if possible :D

Either way, thank you so much again!!!

Cool, let me know if they all work for you!

Honestly, I had no idea Codebreaker did anything at all to force 60hz in any games. Frankly, I don't even know how that's possible (without special codes, of course)

That being said, if there are any PAL games that default to 50z and contain a 60hz selector, sure -- share the list. I can't promise I will do them all, but doesn't hurt to share!

Yeah, so I actually discovered from this page that codes could be used to force 60Hz - https://segaretro.org/List_of_50Hz-only ... cast_games

Those says CD-X, but I noticed that the format appears to be the same for Codebreaker.

That said, I accidentally booted a game from Codebreaker without selecting a code first and to my surprise the game simply just booted straight to 60Hz! It worked for all the PAL games I tried except for the 3 you've so kindly patched for me.

Yeh I have to test DC-IE to skip region instead and see if it runs 50

As for the Racing Simulation 2 I thought you'd much better do on the On-line version since it has been network multiplayable ala DreamPi for years now

I recall F1 Racing Championship crashed+burned after a bit, it hated either of my Dreamcasts, the genuine GD

Oh, is "Monaco Grand Prix: Racing Simulation 2" in PAL the same game as "Monaco Grand Prix" in NTSC-U?

EDIT: Well, per Sega Retro, they are in fact the same game. Guess that was a bit of a waste... haha.
