If you can specify exactly which games from your list have a 50/60hz option and which don't natively support NTSC at all, it would be helpful for when I eventually get around to tackling some of these.
Will do! I actually have a suspicion that every game listed has the option. The only one I remember offhand that didn’t seem to was Jimmy White’s 2: Cueball (either it didn’t have it or the option was very obscure to find…the menus are a bit unintuitive in that game it seemed).

I’ll check later and update the list to those I find that don’t have an in-game option for 60Hz.

The patch for Monaco Grand Prix Online worked just fine

Here’s the segmented list of games:

Again, for reference, my DC is running with a GDEMU clone over S-Video through a Retrotink-2X Pro:

50/60Hz PROMPT

Code: Select all

Headhunter
MoHo
Planet Ring
Pro Pinball Trilogy
Stunt GP
UEFA Striker

IN-GAME 50/60Hz SELECTION

Code: Select all

Aqua GT
F1 World Grand Prix II
Taxi 2
UEFA Dream Soccer (bit annoying to get to)
Sega Worldwide Soccer 2000

60Hz - CODEBREAKER ONLY

Code: Select all

European Super League
Exhibition of Speed
Giant Killers
Jimmy White's 2: Cueball
*Note: Every game listed boots in 60Hz if you boot them with Codebreaker

I *knew* I forgot to film! s-vid no mods neither ever unleashes 50 upon me
In your video you’re using Codebreaker which I discovered forces 60Hz on most PAL games. Do you get 50Hz if you boot without that?

I get nothing because region lock

Still need to test with DC-IE bootdisc if doesn't grant 60hz

EDIT: I *think* I've done Planet Ring s-vid before and absolutely did Stunt GP with CB same they behave like 50hz never existed, and I know Aqua GT would be very tough to enable its native 60hz blindly

Again with genuine GDs no CDI burns

When I get a chance, I think I’ll try running directly to a CRT via both composite and s-video and see if it behaves any differently compared to the retrotink. My guess is that the CRT will give me a rolling picture whereas the retrotink just gives a black and white picture with the screen shifted down a bit.

Which Tink model? Are you converting S-Video/Composite to HDMI with the 2x? If so, and you have no imminent plans for an RT5X or 4K, I strongly suggest watching eBay for the "Atlona AT-HD500" and waiting for a listing to pop up around $50. It's a largely unknown VGA->HDMI converter, and of very high quality. Beats any other cheap Amazon device, and is superior to the Akura and other devices from the same company.

You will have an "it just works" experience with nearly everything you'd ever, ever want to play (except The Last Blade 2 and the NTSC-U version of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure). For the rest of the library that can't be forced to VGA, we have special patches: https://consolemods.org/wiki/Dreamcast: ... nd_Patches

I’m using the 2X-Pro. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for one of those! I used to have an Akura, but sold it to get a 2X-Pro because it was easier to use for streaming along with my Gamecube. The shelf where I keep my consoles on for streaming didn’t have enough room for the Akura, unfortunately. I think the good thing is that so long as I have these patches and the ability to run Codebreaker, I’m pretty sure I can already run everything. It would be nice to have better picture quality for the DC for sure, though.

Edit: found an Atlona on eBay, but it’s unfortunately $90-ish :o

This video adapter can "play 'em all".
Switch in VGA position - VGA supported titles.
Switch in RGB position - Everything else, including 240p titles.
Upscales to 1080p. Price doesn't break the bank.

Ok, that’s pretty awesome! I typically don’t like to support Bitfunx since they rip off other creators (China though, so what else should we expect I guess), but for this price I’m down to give it a whirl!

You can give it a good test with 240p Test Suite to see if it meets your needs. I was amazed how good the 240p titles looked! A problem I recently discovered is that my SD Card Adapter v2 used for Dreamshell no longer fits when using this adapter, it's too wide. Since I rarely use Dreamshell it's not a deal breaker for me - I just temporarily plug in my composite cable.
