I've given up, I will give you the files to help you make a cdi, I tried using the common steps of making a cdi and I'm just failing to make the game boot, maybe I'm blindly messing something up, I used binhack32 and then bootdreams but it still wont work, I don't really like working with cdis, maybe you will have more luck https://mega.nz/file/chJFHKCD#i7D1xbave ... suGHzh9cZMateam wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 5:11 pmBootDreams or LazyBoot are two easy methods.DreamcastKK wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 3:55 pm Don't worry I noticed, I tried my best to save more space and now it's 795 MBs, I do wanna know how you make a .CDI? Well, something is amiss with your CDI files. I cannot author a working CDI either.DreamcastKK wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 6:52 am I've given up, I will give you the files to help you make a cdi, I tried using the common steps of making a cdi and I'm just failing to make the game boot, maybe I'm blindly messing something up, I used binhack32 and then bootdreams but it still wont work, I don't really like working with cdis, maybe you will have more luck https://mega.nz/file/chJFHKCD#i7D1xbave ... suGHzh9cZM
I tried replacing 1ST_READ.BIN and IP.BIN in the CDI files you sent with the originals from your GDI, and that didn't remedy the issue.
Instead of using BootDreams or LazyBoot, I then tried using the simple little kit I put together for my patches. No luck.
When I use the original v1.1.1 files from your GDI, I'm able to successfully build a CDI, albeit oversized and unburnable. I don't know what all changed in your game data files in this CDI pack you shared, but something (other than the game executable) is broken.
EDIT: Okay, so I just realized that the original game is 254 files (if you include IP.BIN). The CDI pack you sent only has 134 files. Was this intentional? Was I supposed to extract the contents of the GDI, then overwrite its files with the contents of the CDI pack? Since you never specified, I wasn't sure. Assuming this is what I was to do, I went ahead and tried it... and it didn't work either.
Please verify this collection of files for the CDI version and send them again.
Attached below is the simple CDI kit I made. If you want, you can try it yourself. The sort file (sortfile.str) from the original GDI is already there, which will help with the file layout on the actual burned disc. All you have to do is place the entirety of the game files in the "data" folder (this also includes IP.BIN). I would suggest starting with the original 1ST_READ.BIN and IP.BIN files from the GDI (extracted using something like GD-ROM Explorer).
EDIT 2: Okay, so I tried using all the original GDI files, and then only the .AFS files from your CDI pack to author a new CDI. That didn't work either. Shit's broken, sorry!

I think I realized the issue now, I didn't put the full gdi in the folder, I'm very sorry, guess I got too mixed up between my stuff, I will make one with your tool kit, I will try to correct any other mistakesateam wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 7:31 amWell, something is amiss with your CDI files. Re: [NEWER ENGLISH PATCH] Space Channel 5 Part 2
What files did you modify for the CDI version? Can you send a ZIP of just those?DreamcastKK wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 9:04 am I think I realized the issue now, I didn't put the full gdi in the folder, I'm very sorry, guess I got too mixed up between my stuff, I will make one with your tool kit, I will try to correct any other mistakes

EDIT: Given that making an oversized CDI of the original GDI files works just fine, I tend to think one of your new AFS archives (or other content that has been downsampled) is broken.

MAKUMA.AFS (FMVs)
1 resampled song in R61MUSIC.AFS (Round 6 Music)
1 resampled song in R62MUSIC.AFS (Round 6 Music)
replaced the MOVTEX.AFS for the levels, (The video textures/backgrounds that appear in the game)
and smaller version of the voice files, other than that everything is the same.

"for /f "tokens=2-4 delims=/ " %%a in ('date /t') do (set mydate=%%c%%a%%b)"

I was wondering if any space could be saved on the CDI if only the 8.3 ISO filesystem is used? Remove -l -r from mkisofs.
