Am I alone in thinking it would be better to have the standard $10,000 starting cash instead of $4 million? Being rich has its perks I guess but think it would be more fun to earn upgrades over time. Unless this is just a temporary beta testing thing @flyinghead?

That's kind of the whole point. Good racers will earn more rewards. If you win a lot of races, your earnings should far outway any repair costs. If you're a bad racer, you're gonna go broke at some point anyway, regardless of how much you start with. The game is also balanced so that if you lose to a driver who's ranked much higher than you, you don't lose much money. In fact, you can still earn money if you lose but still complete challenges (like radar busts) while racing. On the other hand, beating drivers that rank higher than you will earn you a lot more. The devs put a lot of thought into this to make sure the game was well balanced.

I'm ok with starting with more than $10,000 but $4 millions seems a bit much. It removes a good bit of the progression aspect.

It's worth noting that it also takes forever to get up to level 200 in PSO but it keeps players coming back because there's something to strive for. Same with this. I want to keep playing to earn the best car.

Errr... that's how video games work. That's like complaining that I can't get to the last level of Contra because I'm bad at it.

that might be the case for offline games, but aren´t we are supposed to play these games together as a community? restricting the games to only people who are good seem counter productive to me.

There's nothing preventing people from playing the game and having fun, even if you only have a basic car. You can even restrict games to only allow cars that are equivalent to yours. But players should be rewarded for improving and getting better at the game. If everyone can just have everything from the start, then that removes all the progression aspect of the game.

I was just trying to point out some concerns from the viewpoint of the more casual player base that have lives and real full time jobs to take care of who can only play a handful of hours a week, who need to choose between all the amazing dc online games.

I get that but I still think there should be rewards for becoming a good racer. As I said, I'm not aversed to having more starting money but there should be a compromise between being poor and being filthy rich. lol Personally I think it should be at least below what the top few most expensive cars in the game are. That way those need to be earned.

Maybe @flyinghead can start a poll and see what people think is a good amount to start with.
