100%! It's surprising to see the developers went to such lengths to hide everything. I'm still hopeful one day I'll be able to use a regular controller with this!

Is it possible for the retro time adapter from 8bit mods to emulate the dongle and map the keys to controller inputs?

Re: [request] Remove checks for DreamMovie VCD player?
Anything is possible, but that would require A) a logic analyzer to see what the hell the proprietary dongle is doing and B) writing custom firmware (or adding to existing Blue Retro) the ability to emulate said dongle.

Re: [request] Remove checks for DreamMovie VCD player?
theoretically it is possible, but practically no one will do it, the protocol of this adapter is very different from any malpe device, and also the checksum generated from the current value of the TMR0 timer is used.
in other words, even with this device, you will need to solve the secret of generating the checksum.
it is much easier to create a new VCD player than to create a clone of this dongle
