I just check the gitlab now and then, saw new builds today, looks like there's a custom kos to use now too? https://gitlab.com/skmp/dca3-kos
probably all this info is in the discord, I don't go on much 😅
but I got new builds up and running on my DC, amazing to play VC on DC

Yes. You'll need the new kos files to build the image. It is also able to be built in Windows reliably now using DreamSDK thanks to skmp's dedication. Though, I keep hearing there's a new revision to DreamSDK coming any day now, as well.

There is a sad news that Team SKMP has a lawsuit from Rockstar games because of all these projects. I would say to that company go to hell m..f...rs. I hope they never find their identities and release GTA San Adreas and much more for a dead console +20 years ago. It is only to obstruct the kind of work (reverse engi) , not these games specifically. If SKMP read this and needs some forensic helping write me, I am a forensic psychologist, they will put forensics to search the id, data to produce the proves, if they cant find the identities or proves, they cant do nothing and the lawsuit will stuck! and I hope so.

Source?

And San Andreas on Dreamcast is a pipedream. That's my take.

I think this user is confusing the lawsuit that Take Two filed back in 2021 against those who reversed engineered the game in the first place. There’s nothing I’ve seen of what they are talking about.

this is a few months old but I think it rings true as it would make sense. This guy was the technical director @ Rockstar for GTA3, VC, SA and IV and he's been a big champion of the DC ports so far.

The difference here is that regta3 had links to dubious sources which may or may not have infringed on Rockstar/Take Two intellectual property. In this case, the entirety of the dca3 repo is open source tools that only manipulate/convert files provided by the end user. While there may be a breach in end user terms of service by duplicating or manipulating game files, the distribution of the tools doesn't violate anything. And I don't think Rockstar has the grounds to enforce terms of service relating to the duplication of game files for personal use. Its technically against their rules, but the time and cost to enforce it for this wouldn't net any benefit. There have been users who have actually purchased the game from Rockstar Store specifically for this project.

Unless they dare make a case that this inventivizes piracy due to the novelty of playing a 20 year old game on a defunct console(dreamcast)... I'd like to read up on the precedent for that.

Also, re3 coincided with the release window of Definitiveb Edition. That's likely another big reason they were targeted.

But seriously, the people making up bootleg replicas can f themselves. That's the exact kind of thing that does draw attention and actually gives rockstar/take two a reason to c&d a hobbyist project.
