GDEMU Compatibility

Post by RetroKwik »

I found a few threads that easily stated the console needed to ensure compatibility with a GDEMU.

My question here is regarding two specific components (one of which I've never seen before).

The console I have has the 1 designation with a circle around it shown on the underside label. Granted these consoles are old, I assumed I purchased an unmodified console.

When I opened it up, the controller port board has a 3 within the circle whereas other threads show a 1.

There is also a an odd number of wires protruding from underneath the metal plate (that sits under the disc reader assembly) and it is connected to a small PCB wrapped in heatshrink.

Is this component sticking out normal, and does the 3 on the controller board warrant a red flag?

It sounds like you've discovered some intriguing and potentially worrying components in your console! The "1" identifier with a circle typically indicates that your console is one of the earlier models that are generally compatible with GDEMU. However, the "3" on the controller port board is a bit of a surprise, especially if you expected a "1" based on your console's designation. It's possible that this board was changed or modified at some point, which could compromise its compatibility with GDEMU.
