Hello! I used to play pso v2, alien front, and bomberman online like a decade ago, I love sega stuff, will always be a die heard sega fanboy.
Since my roomm8 moved out, I've gotten him a saturn + netlink setup so we can both still play bomberman with each other long distance, and it literally just occurred to me that I could possibly play some pso again as well.
My original character is long gone (a 180ish racaseal), since my original dreamcast died and she was tied to the system, but in the past 5 years I've still played the game here and there offline, and have a nice little racaseal replacement and also a nice hucast as well.
But...
I've never played these off line in ultimate by myself. Without the help of support I'm now feeling the suckiness of solo androids in ultimate. I haven't touched my racaseal in months, and my hucast is literally stuck in the ultimate caves at level 90 since he has no way to connect to those damn nano dragons.
Is there any sort of strategy that i've completely overlooked with them? I've been trying to tag then with an ice trap, but havn't gotten a good one in yet. My level is too low to be effective with a gun as well.
Should I just be leveling up more?
This really doesn't seem like it should be a problem. 10 years ago I had no trouble crushing threw these guys with my little android ranger chick, but my friend had my back literally at all times ><
And on a completely different note;
Whenever I get my phone line set up for my saturn's net link, is that the typical service everyone uses here? Or do the majority of you guys use bba?
Hi, I'm newish, anyone have any tips for pso ultimate?

But the red handgun is the way to go incase you want them killed
You still need a couple more levels on your hucast, but a strategy that some ppl use is to make it unbalanced and try to exploit the ATP factor with it, a very simple solution is to find a nice armor with 4 slots, then use 3 units of pb create, this will enable you to gain the phonton blast really fast and therefore you will be able to cast twins (forgot the pb name) so you have a constant suply of lvl 21 shifta and deband.
Regarding accuracy you can always do forest over and over to find a nice red handgun, hit % may be better now, but in a few levels then only the other % will matter as you will be able to hit better then a top humar, if my humar hits decently with the gun, then you will do better.
You can even try and do vhard ruins for a god arm for example, if you are so desperate for extra ATA then hunt one.
Your problem just seems the lack of stats, but you can have better perfomance if you use the right PB, the right weapon and probably the right mag.
For example, you should try and make a new mag while you are hunting for a better red handgun, maybe one that has better POW and DEX basicly.
Just remember that in the mines you will have to make a big effort to kill the enemies, so i would start preparing for the worst right now.
Tell me your id, so i can check good and easy items for you.

Re: Hi, I'm newish, anyone have any tips for pso ultimate?
Never said I had a red handgun
I'm a 90 Hucast; Macabre! (redria)
My gear has very little variation, although I've been holding on to things that might eventually become helpful. Since I'm still in early ultimate I've held on to my vhard ruins gear for dark falz runs.
I have about 650 hp @ lvl 89, I'm specifically stuck at the cake quest (first quest in caves), due to those horrible nano dragons.
I made myself an Ila mag, lvl 200 / 120 / 200 stats, with 25 def, 80 pow, 95 dex. He gives me the all important Myila & Youila, as well as golla and farlla (both now useless to me).
My general setup;
General 4 socket armor with
~God/Power
~God/Power ++
~Hero/Ability (after testing, the extra "luck" to do criticals is far more convinient than a few extra power points)
~Devil/Battle (i use this specifically with my ultimate sword*)
A celestial sheild as my barrier, and these weapons;
~Flowens +9 (40% damage to dark, mostly used now for vhard ruins runs)
~Ancient saber +45 (0% all stats, havn't found a better one yet, really this is the only reason I can kill in ultimate)
~Varista +9 (10/0/25/0/25% hit, i havn't found a better gun, has little use other than dark falz flying form in vhard and trap removal)
I've been collecting all of the obviously fun rares along the way, and tried to keep good %'s if I find more than one. Obvious things really like the mech guns and slicers. Stag cultry is just fun.
I also have kept these extra socketable items incase I ever might need them;
God/Power
God/Legs+
God/Legs
God/HP
Metal/Body
Reisist/Saint (really not sure why i'm holding on to this, is this even helpful?
Resist/Devil (same?)
PB/Generate
PB/Create
Devil/Techinique (i really have no idea why i'm holding on to this...)
The reason I use the Speed one is I found that when using the ancient saber in the ultimate forest, its the perfect speed for a full attack + back out of range while monster attacks + repeat. Everything but big monkeys fall for this simple gimmick. When I tested variations of sockets without the speed, i wasn't getting out of range fast enough and getting hit.
I know i can find a photon claw in vhard forest from a barbarous wolf, but idk if its helpful at all. I've also been tempted to hunt down an agito from the normal ruins, and all of its other counterparts, but honestly dont know if these weapons are any good.
I recall my friend searching for a berdysh in the ultimate forest in i think redria, saying that it was the staple of his character if he ever found it and it could get him threw the game.
The irony is I know i can find a red handgun from barbles like what, 1/62 of the time? I've been doing ultimate forest runs for quite some time and havnt found one yet.

Re: Hi, I'm newish, anyone have any tips for pso ultimate?
Varista on ultimate is a no go, go hunt the red handgun, not only you will lvl up but you will find it sooner or later, just don't do quests when you're hunting for items.
You have a really strong ATP and ATA, but you're not using one important thing wich is %, the ancient saber is good, but if you find one with 30% native then you will drasticly improve your damage.
Take my example, i carry with me 4 red handguns, each one for one area, so just hunt for a basic red handgun but keep doing forest in hope you find a better one.
Don't go to the mines with a ancient saber, the enemies were made to be fought at long range.
If you don't find a nice % red handgun to beat mines then you will face an area that you won't want to repeat ever again (unless you like wasting several hours in each run)

Ah then the hunt shall continue.
It appears after re-reading the get-online faqs around here that I might not be able to join you guys on the pso side, my characters and system and all are ver.2 us. I'm really hell bent on solo'ing threw the game atleast once, and if my phone line works out nicely with my netlink and I actually get threw ultimate dark falz, i might make a new char later on a pal ver.2 disc.
KIREEK you seem to know about good drops from reading other posts here. I can read threw guides and understand drop rates and numbers and what not, but thats a little different from understanding what weapons would be good to actually use successfully in the game.
What would you say are ideal "look for these" weapons for these two characters;
Hucast in redria
Racaseal in purplenum
When i restarted my racaseal I had assumed I was going to end up using a frozen shooter as my staple end game weapon, maybe tinker with a bringers rifle if i were lucky enough to find one (if its even good?).
As for my hucast I had always assumed that a berdysh was the ultimate weapon since thats what my old m8 used to rant about all the time, but after reading its drop rate... yikes.
I like the idea of the melee weapons (brave knuckle / angry fist), but with their drop rates, i hardly think I'll be finding one soon. And claws look pretty, but again, I haven't the faintest as to what weapons I should imagine myself using when I'm like level 150.

Re: Hi, I'm newish, anyone have any tips for pso ultimate?
It would be nice if you could come online, doing cmode for sranks or giving items from your racaseal to a player here and then the player giving to your hucast would be great and you will understand why.
I'll begin with purplenum, i really doubt you will find a froozen shooter, the drop rate is nice, but finding a hildetorr is hell especially when there are 3 hildelts per forest run
Brave Knuckle and angry fist are nice for collecting, but never use them on ultimate, i believe you will find them eventually.
Basicly all yellow named items are worthless in ultimate, there are a few exeptions, if you have a high ATA char and a spread needle then maybe in teamplay you can spam the special to paralize the enemies in ultimate, asside from this even the spread needle is no match
Both ids can find the red dagger and red sword in caves, these are not uber rare so you may find it eventually, red sword ATA is low but ATP is high, while the red dagger is the perfect replacement for your ancient saber.
Your racaseal will be able to find the imperial pick wich would be great on your hucast, it has a tremendous ATA and all you need is some with % and you will beat the game easily.
I'm not saying you won't find other weapons and armors, but i believe you will find these items way before you find a sacred cloth or an electro frame.
Your general runs will result in ancient sabers, red handguns, sense plates, revival garments, imperial pick, maybe a red sword or a red dagger and everything else will be found very very very very rarely or maybe never.
It all comes to luck in the end but with common items then there won't be many problems.

Your statement means one cannot find ?special weapons while doing quests? I've been doing just dragon runs for now, but was eventually planning on doing that rappy quest over and over again to try and find a Berdysh. Knowing if that wouldn't work would save me quite a bit of timeK_I_R_E_E_K wrote:Varista on ultimate is a no go, go hunt the red handgun, not only you will lvl up but you will find it sooner or later, just don't do quests when you're hunting for items.

edit; also I was reading threw a guide posted in your signature, and somewhere in there it claimed that falzy's megid attack could be avoided? How is that, just lots of dark resistance?

Re: Hi, I'm newish, anyone have any tips for pso ultimate?
It's true but unfortunatly quests do not give rares on pso ver.2
Only do quests when your desire is to either gain exp or to gain prizes (soul eater, mags, TTF prizes,....).
If you notice while doing quests no items that are 9 stars or more will drop, sometimes destroying a big brown box in forest will result in just that, because the item since won't drop.
Regarding Ultimate falz, his attacks are different and megid on the last stage can be avoided because it travels from him to you, it doesn't hit you instantly like in other difficulties.
I will be honest, only way your chars will perform in a excelent way would be by having Sranks (by doing c-mode), a srank needle and a srank mechgun would be amazing for......any area and boss.
Even at lvl 120 your hucast could have the potential to take down even my humar, all you need is the proper sranks.
Take this scenario, you with a mag that gains PB fast, you cast lvl 21 shifta and deband before the dragon, on the dragon you spam the special of the srank until you see the dragon with zalure (note: srankjs cast a random special that always hits, the special may make things alot harder, so try not to use them on enemies), with lvl 21 shifta and lvl 81 zalure all you need is to kill the dragon, damage and acuracy are assured.
In normal gameplay you will have the usual needle and mechguns for some enemies, you will have lvl 21 shifta on you, if the mag casts invencibility at 100 pb then you will have that effect often (if you decide to use 3 pb creates) and if you are in danger you can always use traps.
If you get sranks things get alot easier, without them you're in for alot of pain hunting down items.

Re: Hi, I'm newish, anyone have any tips for pso ultimate?
characters are tied to SN/AKs, not systems. it only seems like they are tied to systems. i have my main character set up to play on 3 different Dreamcasts, though ones is now broken.Macabre wrote:My original character is long gone (a 180ish racaseal), since my original dreamcast died and she was tied to the system
i use a force to play in ULT, i couldnt even get through the caves with weapons until i was 100 or so. i would use a mag made with tons of power to help kill them and i have a nice red hand gun with %s. i also had shifta and Deban to help me. before i was high enough level i couldnt even hit enemies with guns. i had to use techniques to score damage. that really sucked so i just played some more V hard until i was ready. it sounds like you should play some more forest. your not suppose to be able to rush through ULT that fast.

Well that sorta sucks, I had planned on following this idea here;
http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?o ... &artid=723
to find my frozen shooter and other rarities for both of my characters.
Does the pipe trick even work?
