Hey everyone,
I had a very large collection of Japan Dreamcast stuff. While looking through it yesterday I got curious about VMU prices.
Price chart only shows standard VMU's.
I have a Sakura Wars Pink VMU new in box, Seaman VMU new in box, and Blue Hello Kitty VMU new in box. I was curious what those are worth.
Any ideas?

Re: VMU Price Guide
What do you mean new in box? Sakura Wars, Seaman and Hello Kitty VMUs were part of console or software bundles.

Re: VMU Price Guide
Sakura Wars and Seaman are still in their original game packaging and have never been removed or had their battery pull tab removed.
Hello Kitty is also still in plastic with its pull tab not removed.
Maybe I used the wrong phrase by saying new in box.
I should have said mint condition, unused.

Re: VMU Price Guide
I'm still working on my Japanese collection now.
Standard colors are ~ US$20. D-Direct pattern VMUs are 30-50. At $100 are the 3 pearl colors. Sonic Team, SGGG, and Capcom VMUs vary in price, but range US$100-$200.
I see the clear Seaman VMU for cheap when loose often. The Hello Kitty console sets should track similarly. The RE:CV vmu does show up alone sometimes and goes for over $100. Other software pacck-in are in this 20-40 range (ChoHatsumeBoy, Sakura Taisen 2/online). Same for the Toho and Giant Gram ones, though boxed Toho VMU go for somewhat more.
The problem with pricing Japanese stuff is that used product is in excellent condition in Japan at low price. When I see the same goods domestically, it's heavily used, or someone stuffed random product in their luggage for resale. These resellers typically raise the price 200% to try recovering their plane ticket... and condition isn't always the best. Also, pawnshops/GameStop/CEX will always have the benefit of paying 20% what you or I would have to pay.
Sorry for the brusk comments. Just talking about money brings in a lot of people who are not interested in appreciating these accessories.

Re: VMU Price Guide
No worries. I don't plan on selling any of my VMU's. I was just curious what they were worth.
I'll end up passing my DC collection to my kids someday.
My JP DC collection is getting rather large. Moving from Tokyo to Czechia was a pain will all my gaming stuff on top of all my household goods. I'm not looking forward to my move back to America at some point.
