I wouldn't take apart a working 360 controller just for that part. You can get them for a couple of dollars shipped. I might be able to get some more free broken controllers too. If I do I could shave one down and mail it to you.

As far as pictures go I am pretty bad with computers. I don't know how to post pics. Best I could do is email you some pictures and the only reason I can do that is because I figured out how to do it on my phone.

After playing a bunch of TXR I decided the stiffer spring was too much for the gas trigger since you are always holding it down and I put the normal spring back in. The brake is perfect though.

Aw man, you would do that? Well, I can show you how to post pictures on imageshack, and then how to post them back here.

Its pretty simple, you just follow the directions. I know how it is, I remember when I didn't know how to post a picture, or videos on forums.

I have made 3 controllers now. Two with the 360 thumbstick and one with the PS2 thumbstick. I can now do it just by shaving the thumbstick and controller case.

I use the 360 stick for my driving games. I originally did the PS2 stick just to see if it works but now that it's built I like it better for all the other games.

The PS2 stick doesn't look like you did anything to the controller if you do a good job and it is pretty forgiving. With the 360 stick the shape is a little different and if you don't file out the thumbstick hole on the controller shell perfect you can see the bottom edge of the thumbstick. It doesn't effect anything but when I build something I want it to look like it was originally made that way.

You actually have to shave a lot more to use the PS2 stick but because of the shape of it you don't see the bottom edge of the stick. I originally wanted to make a controller that you could swap out either the 360 or PS2 thumbsticks and I did but due to how much more you cut out for the PS2 stick I am not happy with how it looks once you put in the 360 stick. It works but it doesn't look nice enough for me. If you want both styles and the controller to look like it was never modified them I would suggest building a controller specific for each thumbstick.

I showed the guy at my local game store what I was making and he liked them so he gave me a whole box of broken controllers. Anthony if want one let me know what style you want and I will make one for you.

Really? Wow! That is so nice of you! :D Well um, let me see, what all joysticks do you have, and what looks/works best?

I want a 360 stick, and think the concave design of it would be best for comfort and looks. I plan on using it on GT2 and various FPS/action games.

About fileing the DC controller shell, how much do I have to modify?

I just got done building another one with a 360 thumbstick. So far I have made 3 and I did something different on each one. I haven't decided what the best method is yet. I still have a couple more to make for friends so I hopefully I will decide on a set method by the time I finish those.

Anthony, I have lots of both thumbsticks so whichever you want is fine with me. They all work the same, it is really just a matter of personal preference. If you only are going to use it for driving games then I recommend the stiffer spring in the brake trigger. If you want to use it for all games then you may not want the stiffer spring.

I was playing NBA 2k2 last night and having just one trigger stiffer then the other was making the free throw shots harder. I can't really think of any other game it might effect like that but it did throw me off on that one. I lost a game on my season by 2 points and I missed at least 10 free throws that game.

I have so many controllers right now I can just make a complete one for you. That way if you want to make any more you can just take that one apart and see how I did it. There really is nothing to them inside.

Let me know what you want and I will build it in the next day or so. I can just mail it to you and once you get it just mail me back a normal DC controller and we can call it even.

Well, I only have the 1 OEM controller, and that purple madkatz controller, I broke the Joystick on it and tried a repair, but if you added a different stick on that it would work better.

I used the MadKatz for the Metal Slug games and shmups, which the turbo buttons work fantastic. I wish I had an extra white one though. I don't know, tell me what you think.

Ok guy's, drunken ghost sent me my custom made controller! Here is what it looks like!
photo1.jpg
This one has a real 360 joystick shaft and head on it, as opposed to the one spinsky made, which just used the rubber nub.

Here it is side by side next to my stock controller.

I will have to say that so far this controller mod has definatly made a difference in the comfort factor alone.

I also was quite suprised in the condition of the controller! It is brand new! Again thanks a lot drunken ghost! :D
