Need Help Remembering Game

There was a side scrolling Neo Geo game, two player simultaneous could be characters that smacked and shot up bad guys (not a shmup, but a 'walker'). Can't remember the name.

Yeah, could be Metal Slug. One of my favorite Neo Geo CD games, I play it all the time on my Dreamcast.

Not Metal Slug. The genre is correct, but the players are kind of techno-wizard types and they fight a lot of things that look like orcs, the bosses are wizards though. The playing/fighting can occur on a 'foreground plane' and a 'background plane', usually the background is above the foreground, I am pretty sure I am explaining this badly, but for example I think the players can walk into a cave and the path will split so one player fights below the other one, but players can always jump from the lower plane to higher plane. Now that I think about it, there were some chains a player could jump on as well to open doors, or superbomb, or etc in the game also.

The list of games like Metal Slug for the DC are pretty short, right? Is there a list of them I could check out to maybe help me (make less sucky descriptions)?
