I bought 2 New DC Games

Post by Radkin »

I went to The Next Level Gaming store today near my area and bought two new Dreamcast games:

*Alien Front Online
*Expendable

I've been wanting Alien Front for a while now. Especially since I saw someone post a video of it here recently. I am not familiar with Expendable however. I know it is an early Dreamcast game, beyond that I have no knowledge about it yet. Has anybody here played/heard of the game before?

Expandable soldier yeah, i remember playing that at a shop. Was an early game indeed, in the first wave of game of the dreamcast actually. I dont like it to honest, to me it seems unfinished. Its trying to bring the shooter genre to the console, but it doesnt nail it. Game is on a first sight (considering the year of release) pretty impressive, with some sweet explosions and all. But the controls and camera angles does not follow. I wish they didnt rushed that much to release it. Clearly the devs were pushed to release the game on the dreamcast launch, and it wasnt ready yeah. Shame.

That is a shame. The game seemed pretty awesome when we looked at it. Of course, it only had a back cover though. What are the graphics like? Thanks for filling me in Dr.P. (:

I will test this game out second. I am dying to play Alien Front!

personally I think expendable is an awesome game (I believe its also in my vids), it can best be compared with Smash TV & Total Carnage. its not for everyone though; if you like tons of bullets round you & shooting at everything that moves, you might like this. its also a bit too hard for most folks to get to like it, specially if you play it on the higher levels. its also one of the few dc games that has a co-op mode. also you better play it in a dark room, as its a very dark game.

damn, can't I write any comment without making it a half review??

Those were some really awesome games! I had a great time.

Alien Front was so gorgeous, I wasn't even playing it on VGA and I was blown away. I played four rounds and won all of them.

As for Expendable I really enjoyed the game. It was a really dark game but I think it fits the plot. It has an interesting story to it. I liked how the game made me thinks at times too on different strategies. It wasn't as simple as just going in and destroying everything in sight. The first boss was a bit tricky and took me a little time before I got the hand of it. It can't imagine was other troubles I'll face with bosses as I proceed in the game.

I only played Expendable on my gaming PC via NullDC, never played on intended hardware(should burn it for my DC though since the Shmup but bit meh). I think it was decient for what it was, very early game though. I remember reading about it in teh official DC magazine, like the early orange issue with the DC swirl on the cover.

Damn, I miss that magazine...

As for Alien Front, pretty awesome game, if not kinda hard from all the action on screen at once sometimes. ;)
