Is there anyway to get a better connection speed using a pc-dc server?
What If I cut all the wires in the phone cord except the red and green one, will that help?

The max u can get is 33k. Almost all modems upload at that speed. You would need to find a compatible modem that will upload at higher speeds.

Re: Better Connection Speeds With a PCDC Server.
you can download faster than upload. as with most home internet applications, you will be downloading way more than uploading. in the case of a PC-DC server the bottleneck is the Dreamcast and PC modems. the PC modem has to upload information to the Dreamcast. this is where i believe most of the lag is coming from.
you can try modem commands but i doubt you will gain any speed. i have tried a few in the past but they didn't do much, if anything at all.

I have found some new modems that upload at 48kbps but I don't think it would be worth it. The games are meant for slow speed and if you want is faster get a bba or use regular dialup.

Re: Better Connection Speeds With a PCDC Server.
The modems, where do I these input the commands at?
I loaded up PlanetWeb 3.0 and for the modem init I put this:
ATs 15=128 When attempting to connect, it got stuck with Init Modem.
EDIT: Never mind i got it to work:
It seemed to make it a little faster, but that might just be my mind wanting it to be faster, so ?I think its faster.
I will try to cut all of the cords except the red and green ones, I read that having all of the other ones just creates extra traffic on the line.
On Quake 3 when using DreamCast-Talks servers my connection was in orange, in Online Consoles it was in low green, In Souls Servers it was in Orange.

Unless you've configured your PC-DC wrong or modem driver needs updating, it should be running near the theoretical max of 33kbps. There isn't much room for signal loss in a short cable going from PC to Dreamcast.
If you have a V.92 modem you can change the upstream mode to digital and it will have a theoretical max of 48kbps upstream.

I think you would need to put a command to your PC modem to force higher upload speed.

I will try and figure out how to do that.Favrenation wrote:I think you would need to put a command to your PC modem to force higher upload speed.

i agree, the best place to start is with the PC modem. i already tested the shit out of the DC's modem.Favrenation wrote:I think you would need to put a command to your PC modem to force higher upload speed.

Re: Better Connection Speeds With a PCDC Server.
I was reading about modems a few weeks ago and and they I heard that when people try to force higher download speeds it might not be very stable or something like that. I think of it as overclocking a pc. There's a breaking point to when it wont work.
