Yes that is right. Again sorry for the confusion. Anyways this installer is terminal based obviously. When it asks for region and so on just hit enter. It will tell you to type hsfconfig or something at some point and just follow the directions it should be straight forward. Let me know if you run into any trouble.

Yeah, it worked, and it was detected in gnome-ppp, thank you, now I am going to proceed to the Linux guide.

Sweet deal dude. A few notes on that guide though.. If you following it word for word it is under the assumption that you are using a router with a gateway address of 192.168.1.1 and also that it is running its own DNS server. Youll need to edit some files if this is not the case. Feel free to ask questions if you run into any trouble.

Also when it is finally set up, don't worry if it does not work the first time you try to connect. Just like on windows you must sync up the connection properly for it to work. Youll want to wait 2.5-3 seconds before doing the killall command.

Yeah, my router is using 192.168.1.1 and it is a DNS Server (I think).

And your right again, it didn't work, I don't understand it though.

I don't have any speakers plugged in, but I will plug them in and try again to check if there is a sound or not.

EDIT: There wasn't any sound coming from it.

On the mgetty command remove the "M0" also make sure that the sound is turned up and that the sound for your modem is enabled.

I'm assuming you are connecting to Quake 3? If you are make sure you disable the default-async option as it says on the first page of ryochan's guide. If you are using pso or web browser you don't need to do this.

I am using PlanetWeb 3.0 for this, and I do have that line it talks about commented out.

My Modem doesn't have a built in Speaker, but when I was using it for my windows 98 PC-DC Server, The sound just came out through my Speakers.

EDIT: What M0 command, this is my mgetty command:

Code: Select all

sudo mgetty -D /dev/tty0 -m '"" ATM0'
And this is the kill all command:

Code: Select all

sudo killall -USR1 mgetty
