Hello newbie here but i have loved the Dreamcast from day one. I bought a Japan release DC when they came out so as you can imagine living in the UK it cost a lot. I remember buying it with a stepdown transformer, sonic adventure, seag rally 2 and blue stinger and i was blown away by it.
My question is when i had my Jap DC Sega Rally seemed nice and smooth but when i bought the PAL DC and the PAL version of the game it was jerky and slow. Now this is what i remembered so i might be wrong and as i am going to buy another JAP DC (I sold my last one due to love of a girl lol) am I right in saying Sega Rally 2 on the JAP DC was better than the PAL version ?

Welcome aboard!
You're right about Sega Rally 2. The PAL version goes at 50Hz and the conversion they did was poor. That's why the JAP version goes faster at 60Hz.
Moreover, there is a cheat on PAL version to force game at 60Hz (but it deletes decorative objects... it's very curious hehe).

Re: newbie with a question
I found interesting stuff .
Change frame rate
At the "Press Start Button" screen, press Up, A, Down(2), Left, Right, B(2), Down to change the frame rate to 60 frames per second. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear a sound. Press Up, A, Down(2), Left, Right, B(2), Up at the "Press Start Button" screen to change the frame rate to 30 frames per second.

Re: newbie with a question
Thanks for all the help.
I am defo getting me a USA or JAP DC with in the next few days and this conferms what i thought i knew. I will be buying Sega Rally 2 even though i have a backup. I am going to try and buy the games for my console so maybe a USA DC would be the better pick just for the reason of having the games in english and NTSC.
Again thanks for the info and i hope to chat to you all real soon.
