My friend brought over his Dreamcast and we did that, it was a lot of fun.Bob Dobbs wrote:Thanx to Green Man, I'm online. Just connected with it today using XDP. What I had to do is loose my external USR 56k Fax Modem and I put in a much newer internal voice modem made by Agere. Green Man pointed out it must be my modem, so all I did was swap the modem and then...internet. Green Man got me through it.
A Voice modem makes a difference.
Microsoft, Linux just kicked your butt!
Now, I want to do the dual modem thing so we can have another DC online.

We just got 4x4 to work using the Ryochan guide. You have to comment out 'default-asyncmap' in the options file under etc/ppp/ . You also need to do this to connect with Starlancer and Quake III Arena.

Is there a plain old basic explanation on how to do this and how not to do it to play PSO or Max Pool? In short, does this need to be "rem" out like in dos at any time? I believe it does. I hope my question is clear....????

why wouldn't you want the server to play PSO or max pool? I don't think its possible to disable certain games.

To comment out you put # in front of the line. Example: #default-asyncmap . That line is found in '/etc/ppp/options' (options being the file name). Normally I assume most people have it un-commented so you can play PSO and Max Pool properly. But if you want to connect with 4x4, Starlancer or Quake III Arena then you need to comment out default-asyncmap. This is also explained in the Ryochan guide but he simply didn't mention that you also need to do it to get 4x4 Evolution to connect; hence we couldn't get on 4x4.Bob Dobbs wrote:Is there a plain old basic explanation on how to do this and how not to do it to play PSO or Max Pool? I managed to get it working in win 98 but there seem to be a problem with the dns, the dc cannot resolve names. I've tried a lot of things both in the dc and in the pc / kerio.
Anyone else have it working on win98?
