Well, I often have a lot of questions like that, so instead of creating a specific thread for each one, I thought I should make a thread that I'll continually post them in, feel free to do the same.
I'm looking for a game that is an RPG, but has a more open ended feel, kind of like PSO, but with more magic and things of the sort, like World of Warcraft, or Oblivion. Is there a game like so?
Are there any class based games on the Dreamcast?

i cant think of any class based RPG off the top of my head other than PSO. have you tried Grandia II or Record of Lodoss War?
Grandia II has got to be my favorite RPG for the Dreamcast. it has plenty of magic but Record of Lodoss War has the open world your looking for. i also kind of liked Evolution: The World of Sacred Device. you might want to youtube some videos to see if any of those are your cup of tea.

timestalkers is awesome, but not for everyone, coz the gameplay focusses heavily on the quests. I think I'm the only one that has spent 100+ hours on this game

We are SEGA generation.

The only thing that bothers me about that game is that every time you begin in a new dungeon you start back at level 1. You can only build and level up your character in that specific dungeon. After you're done there your character is back to level 1. I hated that concept.mazonemayu wrote:timestalkers is awesome, but not for everyone, coz the gameplay focusses heavily on the quests. There was a game I do have in mind that I think fits close to what you're looking for, but it's not an RPG. It's an action-adventure fantasy game called Draconus: Cult of the Wyrm. You've probably already played or seen it but if you're interested on finding more about it go here.....TeamXlink wrote: I'm looking for a game that is an RPG, but has a more open ended feel, kind of like PSO, but with more magic and things of the sort, like World of Warcraft, or Oblivion. Isn't Omikron: The Nomad Soul an RPG? Maybe that one might be the one your looking for.

I've played Draconus: Cult of the Wyrm as well, it is a rather fun game and I still need to complete it.DarkSword wrote:The only thing that bothers me about that game is that every time you begin in a new dungeon you start back at level 1. I've also played Record of Lodess War, and I thought it was a lot of fun, this is another one on my "Need to Complete" list.
However, when I said class based game, I was asking that as a question thats separate from the rpg one, the class based game I said in the last sentence could be a variety of genres.

What about Gauntlet Legends? Not an AAA-title, but it features a class system with mages, warriors and other classes, about eight if I remember correctly.

Heretic and Hexen are FPS, but DO have SOME RPG elements, and have classed bassed middle age mystical powers and weapons. I used to play Hexen on my Sega Saturn back in the day, loved it then, and it is still nice to play on the DC from time to time. Only thing is that the worlds aren't free roaming, but do use a HUB concept, that allows you to enter and leave levels through magic portals.
