I've been doing that and still nothing.
Something must've changed on my computer or wifi setting on my network.
Gonna try to reboot my computer as ubuntu with usb drive, hopefully I will get somewhere.

I have figured it out after doing a whole bunch of things like flash reset my dreamcast, uninstalling vmware, using XDP web browser. I found out that either my ms-dns was wrong or my mgetty.config.
For my ms-dns i had my isp ip address instead of my router's
and for mgetty.config there was a bunch of commented info in it so I deleted it all and pasted the config that was used in the tutorial.

Now im back!

Thanks for the awesome guide! Much easier than the XP one imo. I followed all of the steps carefully and I got it to connect one time only and loaded up Yahoo's home page on my Dreamcast but it was god awful slow.

But now trying to connect again I get this error in the terminal after executing the follow command you'll see what I mean.

*Edit* Nevermind guess it was my timing. I got it to connect now still a little slow though not as slow. I'm gonna give PSO a few tries maybe I'll see you guys on there sometime

Are you using a PCI or integrated modem? PCI and integrated modems will perform much worse through vmware because vmware is not able to virtualize them. It supports PCI modems through virtual COM port but the performance is a lot worse when compared to usb and serial modems. PSO and 4x4 will both work when used with a PCI modem through vmware, and possibly max pool, but quake 3 and starlancer will not.

Yeah it's a PCI modem. I can see what you mean by the performance. Is there any way to do this in Windows 7 without the use of Ubuntu/Vmware? I found a guide for XP but it wasn't any help.

Not that I know of. Sorry for the incovenience. If its really bothering you I would suggest getting a Serial or USB modem they're both really cheap and will work at full speed through vmware. If you get a USB modem make sure its compatible.

Another thing you could do is dual boot ubuntu. If you use linux itself then it won't be emulating the modem. If you use WUBI: http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubunt ... -installer It installs as a windows program and if you decide you don't want to dualboot you just uninstall it in add/remove programs and it will be completely erased. Make sure you have linux drivers for your modem though.

Oh no problem man! your guide was still very useful and detailed. It helped me get my DC online which I've never done even though I've owned one since like 2002.

Thanks man! At the moment I do have a dual boot setup with Opensuse. I may do a wubi installation for Ubuntu just for this.

I could use my zoom 3095 as a usb modem on linux to make the internet speeds faster on my DC instead of using com port like im doing right now?
