Hmm, I think I have a slight idea how to do this. I have a section called "ports" in device manager, I bet the modem shows up if I connect an ethernet cable.
BTW, some strange modem that has never been in device manager showed up today. It's called "Standard modem through Bluetooth connection".
Can this be used in any way for this project?
It sounds too advanced for the the DC-PC server.

I'm kinda screwed if I can't connect with an ethernet cable. My external modem doesn't have any serial outputs. It has a WAN output, but I really don't think that's going to help.
Does this mean I have to get the BBA?

First I wanna say I'm sorry for all these row posts, but I've found a way.
I can't find a modem device driver for my ZyXEL p-2602hwt modem. If anybody knows where to find it, it would be appreciated if you could give me a download link to it.

This is the official USA download site for ZyXel. Look for the "Legacy products" pulldown section.

Still can't find it here, but thanks for the interest in helping.
I have one option left and that is to use a windows XP operating, old laptop that I got from my grand uncle because it didn't serve any purpose. It came with a Linksys card in the side. I guess this works as a stand alone modem.
I also bet this laptop has a driver installed already.

My Zoom 3095 arrived from Amazon today.
What do I need to do to get it working with Linux (Ubuntu)? I also have a 77HP Tone Generator, which I bought a couple of years ago. I mention that, as I read on one of the previous pages that even with a model A modem in the DC, the Zoom still needs a line voltage inducer, or something.

If this question was for me, I can tell you that the tone generator I use (or I will attempt to utilise) is in the link below.Favrenation wrote:Well the zoom 3095 modem is weird. you need a line voltage inducer with a model A modem for it to work properly. Kingbuzzo is the one who uses the modem.
ALSO: I was wondering what phone line simulator you were using because if it sends out a dial-tone then that would be an easier way for me to play quake 3.

Re: PC-DC server on Vista/Win7/XP etc. (Sort of)
Man, it seems like I'm destined never to get online with a PC-DC server
I've tried using my Zoom modem, and it's not even recognised on my 64bit Windows 7 laptop VMWare.
On Vista, the same error messages come up from before, even with the talk battery attached (my talk battery is linked above). I also used information from here, which is vague, but it seems like he is using a Zoom modem, given the appearance and the detected port (ttyACM0).
Does anyone here successfully use the Zoom modem? If so, what's in your mgetty.config file?
The only change in the interface log from my previous one posted here is that there is no 'bad cable' line, or whatever it says. The speed is also 460800 I think, for this modem.

the zoom 3095 is a bad usb modem to use. U need a Model A modem AND a line voltage inducer for it to work.
