RDC Project poll regarding your games

Post by comradesnarky »

I'd like to collect some information regarding the way you house your game collection to discern how I should proceed with this project.

As before, I want covers to be a big aspect of this. Here's some further information I'd like to collect before I discuss the poll (I ran out of options):

Is your collection primarily back ups or genuine discs?
Do you case your back ups?

Regarding the poll, I want to know which case style you prefer. Obviously DVDs would be a time (and money) consuming switch for some people, however it looks excellent on a shelf and fits in well with more recent games.

Here's some pictures of my copy of Street Fighter III: Third Strike (the ESRB logo is placed wrong on this cover compared to my other ones, I just haven't reprinted it. It should be higher up in the white space next to the accessories icons) all cased up:

Furthermore, I'd like to know if people would be more interested in...
DVD style instruction manuals (as well as CD style scans) for released games
Manuals for unreleased games
Quick reference cards for games which break down controls and small aspects of gameplay

Thank you for your time in answering the questions. Any other input would be valuable as well.

I case all of my back up games in jewel cases.

At the moment, I'm unsure if I have more backups or more retail copies of games.

I'm interested in manuals for unreleased games.

The quick reference cards would actually be very helpful. When a new player wants to play, instead of spending the first match explaining you could hand them the reference card.

I'm also interested in the released game manuals for CD style scans.

Regarding the switch to using DVD cases, your right it would be a time and money consuming process.

I also have never had luck with reprinting game art work.

The problem with this is that most of the scans people are doing just aren't at a high enough resolution or sized properly to be printed. With the templates I'm using, they're at the proper resolution so that they will be CD/DVD case size when you print them, and you won't have to screw with resizing.

I can't stand jewel cases because they take up too much space and they always crack. I just stick all my games in something like this http://www.staples.com/Targus-256-CD-DV ... 1:CL142024 So they stay in good shape and they're easy to take with you.
