Revived Dreamcast, Paint job + Power Led

Post by viroth100 »

Correct me if im wrong but I couldnt find a modding section on the website forums. If there is one could an admin move this over.

Pictures at bottom

First off i just found the glory of my dreamcast again. there was nothing wrong with the shell, no yellowness or anything but it looked a bit plain so i decided to give it a lick of paint. And a couple of changed.

Main change was the paint. Painted it all white then used black to do a speckley black to white on the full shell. Just used normal matte paint that u can get from likes of B+Q with several coats of clear coat ontop.

Next Major change was the Power LED. Tbh at first I forgot what colour it was origionaly, and though the orange was some kind of waring light lo - fail - but once I cracked her open it was just the 1 led which i changed for a super bright Blue one to match the dreamcast logo. Easy change just a new led and soldering iron.

Power and Open buttons I sanded right back to get rid of the wording on it, now its just smooth. And final change was the controller ports. i gave a fast paint of silver, then sanded it back to the plastic so the a,b,c,d would still be in silver and the control ports where they go in was silver.

Hope you like it, and I am sorry if there is a modding forum.

that is an amazing job dude! I have also modded my Dreamcast although nowhere near as awesome as yours here is a link to the most recent picture I have taken, sorry I don't know how to embed pics on the forum yet!

The dc has a replacement see through blue shell and I changed the LED, now pretty much everything I have to go with it is blue as well, official and unofficial Blue VMU's and Vibration packs, Blue Mad Catz Controllers (the best way to play dc games by far is with Madcatz IMHO) etc. Loving my blue DC especially now its back online

I can take some newer pics and get them up if wanted, I should also probably swap the blue casing from my old dial up modem to my new BBA so it looks right lol

:D I like it for a few games... but the d-pad being at a slight offcenter makes precision movement like in bomberman near impossible. Most people hate this controller.

strange, i found it far more user friendly than the ridiculously small, compact and angular originals, couldn't along with the originals at all and the Mad Catz were spread out and wide enough for me to get along with, I have a back up collection of about 8 Madcatz controllers as they don't always age well lol but hey to each his own!

Can anyone help me with the whole embedding pics in a reply as I am dim when it comes to that sort of stuff!

This is cool.

My dreamcast is NTSC, but I think the PAL vresion of the blue logo and blue LED is really cool.
