When you look closely at what they are trying to achieve, the engine, mechanics, story, characters, it is a massive undertaking for such a small team. It's all very ambitious and I can't help wondering whether they've bitten off more than they can chew. Still, I'm hopeful that they can pull it off one day.

and thats exactly the problem nowadays; when I was young, a game was usually made by 1 person. considering what they had to work with back then, it was a bigger technical achievement imo.

Well there are still games being made by a single person but they tend to be puzzlers, 2d shootemups etc. Very rarely do they make 3d adventure games from scratch.

My mind goes back to 1997 when Toby Gard set up Confounding Factor to make the game Galleon. It was originally due to launch on Ps1 and then Dreamcast before finally surfacing on Xbox in 2004. I think the team consisted of 25 people. Seven years then to make an above average 3d adventure.

I'm not trying to spread doom and gloom, just an honest opinion of how long we may have to wait for completion of Tahi if they stick to their original concept and ideas.

exactly, lets not forget that indie games usually start out as a hobby club of guys like you and me who have a life & a job. compared to "real" gamesmakers, who's actual job it is thus they get to spend a lot more time on it so it gets finished faster.

I learned one thing from indie games: it comes out when it comes out

Maybe they should add a Duke Nukem easter egg?

On topic, RETICON sounds like a group of pros. If they say it is possible for them to make such a massive 3D game, there is no reason to doubt it. I sure wonder how the DC homebrew scene will evolve after its release.

Oh, and as long as the game is as awesome as it looks, they can take all the time they need. But not too much time!

I agree. While it is sad we have not seen much, I do hope it comes out. They can take as much time if it means another new game on Dreamcast.

I know Hypertension has had to be pushed back too, but they should release it in winter this year.

It has taken 3 years to see to the end, but it is all worth it. It is now non dependent of any Doom assets, so that is very awesome and a good thing it has been pushed back.
