now, one side obviously connects to the dreamcast, but the other end doesn't connect to any socket on my tv (I got a pretty new tv, so there shouldn't be a problem)
am I supposed to use another cable or something like that?

Yeah, very few TVs (even the newest ones) have a VGA input. You're only options would be to get a new TV or buy one of these:daniel116 wrote:this one:

Re: so i bought a vga box
the VGA box wasn't designed to be used on a TV anyway. it was made for PC monitors. i use a device like the one pcwzrd13 posted a link to for my HD tv. you should of done a little bit more research before buying it

on the first picture here:

you can see the vga socket in the middle, right?
so I have that in my tv, but the vga cable's end is the same as this socket.
You understand what I'm saying?

Oh, I see. In that case you just need a VGA cable:daniel116 wrote:on the first picture here:

You may already have one if you have a spare monitor lying around.

Re: so i bought a vga box
VGA cords are for video only. the cord that you bought is like the one i have. it has a headphone jack for audio out. now you will need a cord that has a headphone jack on one end and most likely 2 RCA jacks on the other so that you can plug them 2 into your TV's left and right audio inputs located by the VGA plug. if your TV does not have them you will have to use another device for sound.

Re: so i bought a vga box
Some TVs that have a VGA socket will have the 3.5 audio socket for audio input rather than RCA sockets. This should be right next to the VGA socket.
If this is the case then you will need to get an audio cable with a 3.5 male plug at each end if you want to sound via the TV.
But if you've got a good sound system connect to that rather than the TV.
