Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2 - Scheduling

Post by nusilver »

Hi all,

As everyone is obviously aware, there are very few people actually playing PSO on Dreamcast these days. I was lucky enough to come across a handful of Gamecube players, one of which suggesting that I could play with him. Is this true? We traded Guild Cards, so that's a start.

In any case, I'd like to know when people are actually playing. I can be online most nights for an hour or two, around 8-10pm, Pacific Time (GMT -8). My character name is Indur. Hope to see some of you out there!

I assume you're playing on sylverant.

Yes, cross platform is possible but it's not perfect, keep in mind certain things do not exist in v2 and GC, also, enemies will have different stats, what can be easy for one player can be very difficult for the other.

To play together both players need to use 1 command.
The GC player needs to use this one
/showdcpc -- This command only works for Gamecube clients, and allows them to see DC/PC games that have the flag set to allow Gamecube users in. Once again, this support is largely untested and probably will break things. Use at your own risk! Use "/showdcpc off" to undo this command.
The dc/pc player needs to introduce this command after making a game
/allowgc -- Make a DC/PC game available to be shown to Gamecube clients (they need to use the corresponding command to see them still). Note that having Gamecube players in the same game as DC/PC players is hackish at best at the moment, and I won't be responsible if anyone loses character data over it. Use "/allowgc off" to undo the command. This command can only be used by the party leader.
I do not recomend a GC/DC game, if you have backups of your char, if you just want to have some fun, then go ahead, otherwise avoid the game.

As for dc and pc players, those are the majority of the players at sylverant.
I may pop online if i'm in the mood.

Thanks again, Kireek. Keeping in mind your warnings, how does one enter those commands?

By typing in the game, as one would normally do to talk. Just make sure that you type in exactly what the command says (nothing more, nothing less).

That said, I really recommend that nobody use those commands in general. They were really only put in for me to test some stuff when I had nobody else around to test with. You or the gamecube users will crash at some point while playing, and will probably lose items or your character in total. I'm the person who wrote the server, so I would know.

Thanks, BlueCrab. I just read one of your server messages :)

Also, apologies for not being able to read. I did not realize there was a game scheduling board.
