any news on Unreal Tournament online functionality lately?

Post by DCUltrapro »

Hey gang, I hate to dredge up an old topic of debate but after having played UT again a little lately (thanks to PCwzrd ;) )I found I actually quite enjoy playing it and would be more than a little interested in getting it back online, I know there's been a lot of work done trying to get it back but nothing lately. I read this thread and remember hearing about the work being done when I was on Online Consoles by Nikon/Ben but has anyone heard any word on the latest progress?

http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=194792

I have the PAL version so I assume I would have to pick up the US version if it ever did get back online as there is no option anywhere in the PAL version to go online (another example of the EU getting thoroughly screwed by Sega/Dreamcast releases!!) also, did it work on BBA?? I'd sacrifice the cast of Glee to the video game gods if this game came back online!! lol

Not sure about any new developments in terms of getting it back online but I can say that it is one of the games that supports the BBA. It would be great to play it online although I'm not able to get my Dreamcast online currently anyway. I'm still trying to find that $20 broadband adapter... ;)

P.S.

Glad I could get you back into the game. That's one of the reasons I started Dreamcast Live. It gives new life to a bunch of Dreamcast games that otherwise might just sit around forever without being played. We can't have that now can we! :D

yeah man, definitely. However your dreaming if you think you'll get a bba for anything less than about $80!! I got mine for £80+ and it was hard to get hold of lol. But yeah I'm really glad I've started playing the game again and I really enjoy the competitions so far.

I'm pretty sure that some day soon Nikon will announce that he's been able to solve the problem, or at least, I'm optimistic lol

Actually it's not as hard as you might think. Someone just told me this on another forum:

"I picked up a working dreamcast with 2 controllers on ebay for 10 bucks. With the broadband modem instead of the dial up modem!"

Now this is the deal I'm waiting for! It's basically just a matter of finding someone who doesn't know what they have.

yeah but waiting for a deal like that to happen again, where the seller is dumb and makes a mistake, is like waiting to win the National Lottery!! Still good luck to you I hope you get it!!

Anyone heard any more info lately about Unreal Tournament and its online situation?
