OK, here me out, and try to follow as good as you can.
I have an broadband internet connection, and I really would like to play my Dreamcast online. HOWEVER, I have the modem that was packaged with the console back in 1999. So, I read around the internet n' whatnot until I came upon a "PC-DC" server maneuver. I noticed that In order to do this, I would need to have a USB Modem, which I do have....except it's not mine. It's on the main computer in my house, which isn't mines. Now here's the problem. I have EVERYTHING, except for one thing: This main computer isn't mines, and I'm not allowed to use it. Even if I am allowed to use it, then I'm still not allowed to download anything.
Next, I tried to do this. I bring my laptop, Dreamcast console, and 19'' 4:3 television up to the living room. I disconnected the telephone line from the DSL modem into the Dreamcast's built-in 56k modem. I went on FreeDialup and found some numbers that I later put into the PlanetWeb 6 Browser on the Excalibur Edition disc I burned. I tried to connect, wouldn't you know, It couldn't find an answer. Now, it KNOWS that the telephone line is in, but it does not pick up a answer. Is this because since I have a Broadband connection, or is this because I'm not doing something right?
The OS I'm using is Windows 7 Premium 64-bit. The internet connection is Gateway 2WIRE.
Can someone help me with this situation? Oh, and by the way, if this topic is in the wrong thread, then please, moderators or admins, put it into the right thread that is so rightfully needs to be in.
Thank you, and I appreciate your help....if anyone replies.
Huge problem.

What USB modem do you have?RadSkully wrote:So, I read around the internet n' whatnot until I came upon a "PC-DC" server maneuver. I noticed that In order to do this, I would need to have a USB Modem, which I do have....except it's not mine.
If your laptop has an internal modem that will also work, but probably not as well.
If you were trying to use actual dial up, I imagine something was either configured wrong, or the numbers you found don't work.I went on FreeDialup and found some numbers that I later put into the PlanetWeb 6 Browser on the Excalibur Edition disc I burned. I tried to connect, wouldn't you know, It couldn't find an answer.
If you have Win7 you can follow this guide: http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtop ... f=3&t=2427The OS I'm using is Windows 7 Premium 64-bit. The internet connection is Gateway 2WIRE.

Re: Huge problem.
NEVER MIND I FIXED IT
I think the reason why it wasn't working because the modem init was AT&F0, because I put the 0 there. But I removed the 0 and now it works.
Thanks for your help anyway.
