Comrade Snarky wrote:Also, no promises that Arcade Edition restores all of the arcade version's balance. Urien's unblockable is the only major change that was noted in the beta release. I'm not truly technical enough with the games to notice slight changes. One of our members is attempting to get his hands on an even earlier build of the game.
Even so, Urien's unblockable made him top tier in SF3 which is why many tournaments back in the day used the ps2 version to escape the repetitive ken, chun li, yun matches. Very exciting news!

Thanks for the update!
Keep dreaming.

Maverick: True, but if i recall, Yun also recieved significant nerfs in his Genei-Jin juggle damage output. But you're right though, it's exciting news regardless.

Comrade Snarky: I will take you up on that offer for sure! if i may be so bold to ask... regarding the games soundtrack exchange, will the entire games soundtrack be replaced by the arcade version soundtrack or will it jus be for character stages?

Holy fuck! Maverick what the hell bro, haven't seen you here for a minute! You seen Dcisozone has moved to a bigger site?

Wow dude, seriously, good to see you here again man, so nice seeing old friends again. :D

You should be more active on all the Dreamcast forums, they have been steadily growing for the past 3 years, and it is pretty kool.

The PS2 had replacement files for all music except for the main menu where you select the game mode.

Since the arcade version only had two stage remixes, I made sure the game behaves like the arcade version in that the third round plays the first round's song again.

I've never been a big SF fan, my favourite fighting games on DC are Project Justice, Last Blade, JoJo's and Powerstone so I guess that makes me 'soft' rather than 'hard' core ? lol

Seriously though, even I am bowled over with excitement with this project. A load of my friends were mad on SF, right back to when the series started. I don't think they'd believe me if I told them this was happening on the DC in 2011 !!

Respect to you Comrade Snarky and everyone that's involved 8-)

You are correct. Yun was nerfed but he was still top tier.

Here is more information for those interested in SF3 tiers: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2007/de ... rd-strike/

I remember going to a local tournament for some MvC2 and they had Dreamcasts set up also playing: Street Fighter 2, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Fatal Fury, Dead or Alive 2, SoulCalibur and.... then there was SF3 third strike in the corner on the PS2. I asked the organizers why they wouldn't use the dreamcast version and they said it was because of Urien's unblockable (you could still parry out of it btw). The organizer called it "Capcom's only mistake in the Dreamcast Age" which I agree with since the xbox and ps2 versions included it.

It is also interesting to note that the recent SF3 Online release includes Urien's unblockable making the Dreamcast version the most unloved port. More on their decision here: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/aug/ ... com-staff/

In sum, ReviveDC is fixing "Capcom's only mistake in the Dreamcast Age." Much respect and thanks again for your efforts.

@Anthony Nice to see you too. I've been around collecting old Dreamcast stuff which I will post/youtube about soon. A new baby and new bass fishing buddies just takes up too much time.
Keep dreaming.

Wow! A DC fight tourney! What year did this event take place and where?

Speak of Fatal Fury (Garou), I wish this game also got some much needed attention from the DC freelance iso community in terms of re-engineering for better performance. Here is another amazing fighter that did make it's proper mark, perhaps due to developer laziness! Why is it that the game pushes the GD rom drive to oblivion (it reads the disc every time a move of any sort is excecuted, causing considerate audio delay) has anyone looked into this issue with Fatal Fury MOW? Can something actually be done to correct these issues?

It sounds like something that could be fixed. It depends on how the files are on the disc. If whatever it's loading (probably a sound effect) is separate files, they can be re-arranged. I imagine they are separate files if the laser is moving that much. I'll look into it or I'll ask Atreyu to take a look at it. He's good with optimizing how game files are arranged.

That would be great if you guys can figure that anomaly regarding MOW.

I was wondering if I may be so inclined to ask more questions regarding 3S arcade Edition for Dreamcast...
- I wanted to ask if this if this version will still be VGA compatible?
- And more importantly, will 3S Arcade Edition be compatible with save data from regular 3S, meaning if I have save data for all unlockable character colors as well as unlocked Gill on my MU, will 3S AE recognize it and load it?

Thanks again for your time :)
