Hard time installing Conexant modem in Ubuntu 11.10

Does anybody know how I install my Conexant modem in Ubuntu?

It worked fine in Windows, but in Ubuntu I get packages like .rpm and .deb that I have to install through the terminal window.

First time ever I install something in Linux, I'm kind of a noob here.
