Guess who has an ASCII stick?

Cost me a lot of money and, being 10 years old, two of the buttons are sticking so I will have to mod it. The optical joystick, however, works great!

I won't stop you if its for your dreamcast collection. But, considering the price, you can buy a Sanwa JLF stick for $25 and the optical mod for $55 for the same results. It takes a minute to assemble if you are using a Cthulhu board. And yes, optical joysticks are soooo much better than the joysticks that use springs. Below is an instructional video showing how to install the mod.

I think the green goblin is the one I will eventually pick up once I find one where the price is agreeable. I like the aesthetics and the fact that I won't have to go through any controller converter. Even though the DC peripherals are all reaching 10 years old - that doesn't necessarily mean they have had 10 (or even 5) solid years of use and abuse. I'm optimistic about getting a used one that will be in reasonably good shape.

I really like the official arcade stick but as I like to keep it boxed and out of sight most of the time it can be a bit of a pain to get it out everytime I want a quick blast on something. The Ascii pad is probably my favourite option. If the dpad on the Madcatz pad was less clunky then that would be another good option.
