Just read this about how some people actually did some surgery on their DC and overclocked it from 30mhz to 340mhz. Sounds like a pretty cool idea but arent they worried about the thing melting? I mean at the end of the article they said their DC was fine and the stock fan cooled it just fine but how long can the thing last?
Has anyone here ever did this?

That really is awesome. We have it posted int he Dreamcast FAQ topic
Well, as long as it wasn't overheating it should be good at that speed. I am going to give this a shot being I overclock my PC. The DC is a very different process though from what I do.
I'm very interested in getting some games to run smoother. Like Draconus...

don't waste your time OCing your DC then. over clocking the DC will speed up the games. meaning game play. so it would be like playing in fast forward. over clocking the DC might be good for DC linux or some other home brew applications.
another neat thing to do is OCing the VMU. btw you need to OC a vmu to use it on the OCed Dreamcast. at least it seems like i read that back when i tried over clocking one of my DCs
