You should start a separate thread for that. This is a warning MrSega. I will not tolerate this.

Hopefully it won't. Thank God it's not coming out for Wii & from the sounds of it, Wii U either.

Again, congraulations on becoming a father.

What's the deal with the WiiU (is that right?) ?

The original Wii and DS were this generations most innovative and best selling systems weren't they ? I would have thought most people would be eager to see what is up next.

Both those last gen consoles were made by an historically genuine and progressive games company..........surely Nintendo have that in their favour as opposed to conglomerates like Microsoft and Sony ?.

Sega fans should share a lot in common with Nintendo really, I'd hate to see them leave the hardware business themselves.

I don't know much about the predicted specs of the WiiU(or whatever it's called), it's just that I don't understand the hate it's getting ?

its ridiculous to say they were innovative.gimmick is the word your looking for. they made alot of sells ill agree to that but only reason nintendo gets a high number of sells is cause nintendo is more kid safe and parental controlled then xbox and ps3. so parents buy them ther products to play games. like seriously what game on wii was awesome besides super smash brothers and a few sonic games. wii games were horrible they paid too much attention on how the game is gonna work with ther controllers instead of making the game fun and entertaining. teh and the 3ds which i don't see anything 3d about it at all. kids are so freaking gullible they'll buy the same product over and over and over just cause a new little add on or attachment and nintendo plays it out as if its a new handheld console now the ds now a bigger ds now dsi now 3ds gee i wonder what ther next handheld is gonna be called.
SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T

I had a feeling I'd get that kind of response ! lol

Worldwide, the Wii has sold ~100 million units and the DS ~150 million units. Not the figures one would expect to see for a 'gimmick'. Was the Dreamcast lightgun a gimmick ? The Samba Maraccas ? The Fishing Controller ? The Wiimote was a logical successor to those ideas. Surely the introduction of both Kinect and Move shows how seriously Microsoft and Sony considered Nintendos idea.

The DS has twin screens and stylus control. In 2004 touch screens were rare but forward to today and I think you'll see just how innovative and successful that technology proved to be.

This industry is always on the look out for new ideas and companies who don't embrace that concept will ultimately not survive. Constantly moving on is part of the deal in the videogame world. I for one, and I don't wish to insult anyone here, am glad that I'm not still playing a black and white "Pong" on some shitty little tv .............

Children can be very astute and more in tune with what's important and 'cool' than any adult could hope to be. This generation they've wanted the DS and Wii. Simple as that ;) Don't knock kids, we were all their age at some point

@NeoHound. Its not hate so much as it is skeptism. The more reports I & other non Nintendo fans hear about Wii U, the less hope we have for it.

First of all, the specs though not official were already leaked last spring. The CPU is a IBM Power PC codenamed "Wolf". Which is a stripped down version of Power 5, basically a cheap version of PS3's Emotion Engine. The GPU is a Radeon 4200 codenamed "Fox" a slightly enhanced version of RSX.

Second, the E3 launch lineup 3rd party is pretty lame. Most of these are PS3/360 ports, on Wii U, they'll only be slight enhancements, barely noticible graphically. With Xbox Loop's official public annoucement expected soon this is pathetic.

Third, though the hardware is $300 the tablet controller will add to the costs bringing the price to $450. If they sell Wii U with two $150 controllers, it'll cost $600.

I don't hate Nintendo, I like them. I love the NES,Super NES & N64 & consider the 3DS to be better than Vita. But I feel Wii is NOT the right direction they should be going in. If Nintendo wants hardcore gamers back, they should build a system that leaps over PS3, not slightly enhances it. And please drop the Wii name. That makes you sound like your trying to gimmick even more.

Nintendo had to try something radical with Wii. The GameCube was a failure by Nintendo standards and if they continued along, their marketshare in the console market would have been negligible this generation. They took a chance and it worked out great for them. Wii is not my cup of tea, but I applaud them for their success.

Portable market is different, Nintendo has controlled it since its inception with the Gameboy. But touchscreens have been around since the Palm Pilot and iPaq PDAs (Apple Newton if you want to be technical) so the DS is not really much of an innovation.

Mr Sega, I didn't have you down as a Nintendo fanboy ! Only joking........

I can see your apprehension regarding those specs for the new console, they certainly won't be able to compete graphically with the expected 360 successor. That may, like this gen, limit Nintendo in the type of games they can make. But the tablet controller sounds interesting, it opens up many gameplay possibilities........

I guess we'll have to wait and see before getting too judgemental about any of the next gen systems. A lot can change between now and their release dates.

CruSega, obviously you're correct in saying touchscreens were available before DS but my point was it was a new idea for a games console. Btw, I owned the aforementioned Newton back in the day ;) Nice idea, but not the greatest gadget I've ever owned lol
