What game has the best graphics?

I completely agree regarding Illbleed, that game is very very good looking. Better than Code Veronica IMO. I also thought at points Carrier looked phenomenal but certain details were kind of ignored leading to a sometimes below par graphical experience.

so what criteria are we going by with this thread then? If by best graphics we simply assume it means "Nicest to look at" then I'd be inclined to say either Headhunter, Shenmue 2, Jet Set Radio or Le Mans 24hr. But if we're talking from a technical stand point then I really don't know

I've always heard from a technical perspective (Polygons and shit) Triggerheart is the best. I think the game looks great myself but I would rather play a game with good art style over high polygon count, I just got lucky that Triggerheart has both

yeah i really wish I'd had the chance to play that and a bunch of others such as Ooga Booga, Outtrigger and Unreal, I hate how quickly the DC went offline

I think between Outtrigger, AFO and PSO I'd just go on welfare and foodstamps and only play Dreamcast. Good think I only discovered the system after it was dead

I can't help myself but I think it looks kind of pale compared to let's say Ikaruga or Under Defeat. In my opinion SA2 has the best graphics on the system.
And I like the solid, ultra-clean look of VOOT. And of course Soul Calibur (I think it looks better than DOA2) and the Shenmues.

Well that's the $64m question..........well, maybe the Dreamcast-Talk 64 cents question anyway !!

On the other thread we had "Most Beautiful" game whereas this is about "Best" graphics. I think there is a distinction although there are obviously overlaps between both threads.

I'm going to say that "Best graphics" implies a certain technical achievement that can be quite separate to the artistic merit implied in "most beautiful".

An example of stunning graphics, which displays a high poly count, and is almost photo-realistic, would be Aero Dancing i. It's a technical tour de force, and is the result of the development company getting to grips with the DC's capabilities over the course of many games. It's also, alongside it's special edition brother, a brilliant game.
