Re: Saturn Collection pics
Did you realise the Archimedes is coming up to it's 25th birthday ? Can you imagine what it was like for me seeing a 32-bit RISC machine in 1987 ?!!! Amazing machine which sadly met it's end, along with the company, in the late nineties.

Re: Saturn Collection pics
ok so I'd be interested in picking up Gungriffon 2, is it playable though? I mean are all the menus and dialogues in Japanese?Macabre wrote: Gungriffion is an OK game, but Gungriffon 2 is an exceptional game! The graphics do show their age, but that game is packed to the brim with excellent material. This game was one of the first non-racing games that had a replay feature, and also supports the saturn system-link cable so you can do 1v1, AND 2v2. Very impressive how much material was programed on one single saturn disc!
And what's Metal Black like? I've never heard of it!

Re: Saturn Collection pics
I'm from the UK
Mmmm, I'm not sure if Acorn were sold overseas, though I know they were owned by an Italian company at one point so maybe they were ?
My mate's dad always had Acorn computers and it was his influence that rubbed off on me. He recently showed me the original Acorn Atom that he built from a kit in 1980 !!
I'm not really a 'techy' person so I'm not sure what the Archimedes specs really mean but I do know they could do things at the time that ordinary pc's couldn't dream of doing. My 1987 Archimedes has a vga and 'Tv-out' socket plus full screen anti-aliasing. And I still find the Desktop Publishing programs very useable even today. Not bad for what is, essentially, a museum piece
But hey, forget the serious stuff, these things play games ! And that's what I am interested in the most

Re: Saturn Collection pics
Ok I've now purchased copies of the following:
Alien Trilogy (Arrived Today) £8
Guardian Heroes (posted to me today) £30 inc p+p
Metal Black (purchased today) £34.99 inc p+p
Good deals? I'm not going to get Gungriffon 2 as it will be heavy with Japanese txt etc and I don't think I will be happy with the purchase if it ends up costing a lot.

Re: Saturn Collection pics
I'm not sure if its been mentioned on here yet but I loved the Clockwork Knights games when I was growing up. They had some really cool boss battles and level design if I remember correctly. Also glad to see you have Robotica since that game is insane.
