Sega DCs lack of exposure with respects to VGA 480p

Am I right in saying that with Plasma TV's you have to top them up with a Gas or liquid or something? I don't know where I heard this and its probably crazy talk but I could've sworn there was something that runs out that needs to be topped up? LCD for me has always been better, whenever you get up close to a plasma tv it just looks like water colours!

The dc looks epic on my LCD, as does my 360 running on 1080p. The plasma's I've seen in my experience have all been fairly underwhelming. But maybe I've never seen a truly high quality one?

I think you'll find that's more to do with it being Plasma rather than LCD, Plasma's are cack IMHO, they wear out pretty quick and some of them aren't made too well, although I'm sure others will disagree I've had an LCD 37" 1080p LG screen for a couple years now and the DC looks immaculate on it, about as gorgeous as any of the xbla versions that play via HDMI and as its the originals there is no content missing so its all good! (I'm glaring at you Soul Calibur XBLA release!! )

The only advantage i see with LCD is that it dont reflect som much sunlight!
Static picture is not an issue anymore with plasmas! I think they have some kind of function so the pixels move a little bit to reduse burn in! Motion adaptive or whatever they call it!

I have a 55" LCD in the living room, and my DC looks awesome on it too, but I prefer Plasma because the colors are so ridiculously vivid. Also 600Hz cannot be beat for fast moving imagery.

No you dont fill up a plasma lol They have come a long way....4 years ago would I have recommended a Plasma? No. Today? Yes.

60hz i the maximum refresh rate on the DC! In other words, it dont matter! (i think)

When we used CRT´s back in the days in europe, we could only play with 50hz mostly!
These days, it stops in the Dreamcast, not i the refresh rate on the TV
Maybe im wrong:)

Anyway, i agree with you that Plasma is to perfer! DC in the dark with VGA is still epic:)

Is there a DC VGA box that is better than the others ? Or are they pretty much the same quality ? Mine is the BLAZE box with twin audio-outs and an S-video socket. It does seem to be better than the VGA lead I used to have, especially the sound quality.....but maybe that's because I have a better sound system now.

Yes there is! and no they are not the same especially with respects to build quality, reliability and sometimes even in performance (especially in regards to after market VGA accessories). Aside from the official SEGA VGA box, there is an amazing VGA cable that is made by a wonderful DC-Talk member by the name of "Cabou"

Anyone that says Plasma sucks hasn't seen a movie on a Pioneer Plasma yet.

Pioneer Plasmas do suck for games though. Because even to this day the newer models have image burn. So that's why I recommend them only for movies, nothing else...

As for LG, sorry to say, but they have very shitty build quality. That's why they are pretty cheap I guess...

Panasonic Viera is neither bad nor good...

And one that most people seem to forget, but Sharp has some very nice screens too... ^^

Yep you are right the typical frame rate used in North America is 60 frames per second (60Hz) meaning that a TV would display 60 individual still images every second. Sub-field drive is the method used to flash the individual image elements (dots) on a plasma panel. For each frame displayed on the TV the Sub-field drive flashes the dots 10 times or more, meaning that the dots are flashing 600 times per second (600Hz) or more. (Example: 60 frames per second x 10 sub-fields = 600 flashes per second). The television shows you the image at the same refresh rate but fires the individual pixels faster so the images appear smoother.

Lol no I have not but my computer monitor is an Acer H274HL 27" 1080P LED Monitor....im sure it would look excellent if I hooked up my DC to it

Yes plasma sets have come long way and rival it's LCD counterpart with some of its own perks.

They still need to work on energy consumption....mine uses over 200W
