Piracy only played a small part in Dreamcast's early retirement. What I was trying to say is that it's failure in Japan and the bankrupcy of SEGA/CSK we're the two factors on why Dreamcast didn't last long.50inchDLP wrote:nice story man, I learned alot.
I would like to say though that while piracy hurt the Dreamcast, I dont think it was even a factor in its death. Everyone I knew had a Dreamcast ( after they played mine) , my good friends anyway. at least 6 people and NONE of us even knew dreamcast games could be burned. back then no one with a PC even had a burner, we had to burn CDs at school. In fact I only learned how easy it is to burn DC games from the net about a month ago because I wanted to play half life.
Does anyone else blame PS2 for Dreamcasts Death?

Fuck EA Sports! I am talking of Need for Speed and shit! I hate sports games arggh lol. There is way more to EA than sports games amigo.Tamikaze wrote:"No support from EA? ohh no i'm not going to get the same game over and over with the number changed to represent the year! Ahhh what am i gonna to do?" cried the Dreamcast. EA are big, but they are not that big. I thought the SEGA Sports brand did quite well to cover over the EA hole.Anthony817 wrote: I think it was the failure of the 32x, Sega CD, Saturn, not having a DVD player on the DC, and no support from EA. That combined with the overhyped PS2 alltogether spelled the end for our little white box.

You're right. EA does suck.
They churn out the SAME damn franchises every single year. Each Need For Speed and Madden game is exactly the SAME every year. Same gameplay, same graphics only slight changes.
At least SEGA is always trying something new. EA recycles the same titles every year.
Ever since they struck a backroom sleaze deal with the NFL to make Madden an exclusive NFL licensed title, EA has become the monopoly of the 3rd party market. Trying to buy off everything.

Well, I really liked N4S High Stakes, which was the last TRUE N4S game, before they went all underground racer....
Only thing I like that is part of EA now is the Battlefield franchise, and Crysis. But hey, it would have been nice to have Sim city or the sims selling Dreamcasts, as we all now how popular the Sims are, even though I could care less about them.
Lets not get all super fanboy and hate on everything EA, Hell, they had some really great games for the Genesis, so I know Sega fans loved EA at one time...
I do agree now, EA is franchise hungry, just like Activision is turning now, but there were some really good PS1 games that would have been good to have atleast ported to the DC.

I agree, EA did a good job on the Megadrive/Genesis and the Saturn maybe?
Moving on, were there any other major franchises that where missing on the Dreamcast due to the company refused to support/develop on the Dreamcast? Atari didn't do anything major on the system.

Not that I can really think of off the top of my head. Capcom, Namco and Sega were the main publishers, but there were many more that only made a few games for it.
Anyway, I just posted links to many many Bleemed PS1 games, that I thought were all lost, but thankfully more people than just smith uploaded Bleemed games. You should check them out. A few EA games are in there that you can try on the DC.

as far as i know if your maken money off it might as well.
if capcom merged with sega it would be over though. all the good games of the generation dissapearing onto sega's hardware would cause a massive sell devil may cry being one

Sony has done a lot of bad things on gaming industry but Sega has killed her own children (Saturn and Dreamcast). And it keeps devastating her last castle...Sonic.
Please Sega (whats left from it), stop raping Sonic....
