Whoa, this article is really jumping to conclusions. Keep in mind they're going off the same information that any other article on the topic has. They don't know that both 1 & 2 have been completed. They're also stating many speculations rather than facts.

Well Sega did go on record teasing that they may be thinking of releasing HD versions of both Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia, this new information that both Shenmue 1 and 2 are completed may tie in to that.

I personally think that if both of the Shenmue games are ready to go then Sega should just release them and then see how successful they sell, then if the rereleases are successful then go ahead and greenlight development of the 3rd game that fans have been asking for, for years.

That article is going on the same information. I'm saying we don't know that BOTH of them are completed. It could be just the first one. Maybe both are, but we don't know that yet.

Well, I sure hope not everyone thinks like me then. I've got both games on Dreamcast in PAL, NTSC/US and NTSC/J version, and the second one on Xbox too. There is no way in Hell I will buy it again just to give SEGA a signal I want Shenmue 3. If they don't get it by now that we do, they never will...

Not even after such graphical changes? I don't know, I understand being a collector, but I just don't see the point in buying the JP versions of Shenmue, which have very few differences to the NTSC versions, and not buying the HD versions, which have a huge difference.

What SEGA needs is an idea of how the game will do at retail. They don't know and don't care how many versions of Shenmue on the Dreamcast you've bought, no offense intended.

I might get some heat here but I'm gonna come out and say it. I don't trust Sega's ability to make Shenmue 3 and I feel so strongly about it that I would prefer to not see Shenmue 3 as opposed to getting a terrible third installment and being heartbroken. Games aren't the same anymore because gamers aren't the same demographic as they were during the time of the Dreamcast. Shenmue might sell as an arcade title at a cheap price based off its name and gaming history but the current mainstream 360 gamer does not want Shenmue 3 the way we want it and we do not want Shenmue 3 the way those gamers (who are far larger in number) and Sega want and would theoretically make it as. I read a post a while ago over at the Junkyard and it weighed on me heavily over time. It was a guy saying Shenmue 3 should be made for the Dreamcast. I got to thinking about why we play the Dreamcast with more zeal than we would a newer console and there's a ton to it. The 360 is alien to me as it is to some of you and sadly the Dreamcast is alien even to Sega at this point.

If we were to see Shenmue continued I would want it to be a novel or short story by Yu Suzuki. Call me crazy but I think I'd literally go off the deep end if Sega ruined my favorite series. And Yu, if you're listening, I'd pay $60 for that novel :D

I got the Japanese versions in a huge lot a few years ago. And they have extras, like the jukebox CD. And I can touch them. And they are on Dreamcast...

On any current gen and next gen Non SEGA console, the budget of Shenmue III would be ridiculous. It would cost nearly $170 million for SEGA to produce the title for PS3,360. Revamping the 2000 Dreamcast underrated yarn and '02 Xbox port in HD digital only form is a no brainer, its easy, cheap and great way to earn some fast cash for SEGA.

I personally feel SEGA and Yu Suzuki would rather wait until they can put out their own hardware again, it would be alot smarter and cheaper and less time consuming to develop it for their own platform, while teasing 360 and PS3 owners and helping everyone begin to admit and feel remorseful for overlooking the game in favor of Playstation 2.
