I just bought a copy as well. As for connecting to a server, you need to have a dial-up service, or a PC-DC server set up. There is a well written guide on here, which is the second from the top in this sub-forum. It tells you almost everything you could ever ask about. Just in case you have trouble finding it, just click here. This is by far the best guide I've found in several weeks of searching.
