How are we all getting on PSO nowadays

Post by Jaseman »

I'm setting up my PC-DC server as we speak, but I can't seem to find a disk of PSO that auto connects. Every link here seems to be deleted

So, uh, what do I do to get online? Anyone wanna point me to a good disc image?

EDIT: ok found a link on the good ol ISO zone. Can we sticky it somewhere or something? http://theisozone.com/downloads/dreamca ... o-connect/

I use my retail copy with the Sylverant PSO Patcher disc (which you can find at the link below). I would not recommend using a burnt copy of PSO as it tends to freeze when players join your team. This will cause you to lose every item you're carrying except for the items you have equipped. As you can imagine it's quite frustrating.

Both solutions have rather serious drawbacks. GD-ROM copies don't freeze, but their horrible layout excessively taxes the Dreamcast's optical drive and forces you to replace your system sooner. CD-R copies fix that problem but freeze when new players join, unless you set a password and only let people join when you're on Pioneer 2. Either way you're in a bad situation, sadly.

You could also get the PC version and play that way. I save the dreamcast version for play on the weekends and do my day to day with the PC version.

I'll be playing on PC until I can get (afford) a BBA. That day cannot come soon enough.

I honestly thought when i used to play online on my DC (about a year ago) that I was only one who had problem with it crashing (through playing a burnt optimised copy). Dam that got annoying!
Dreamcast, it's still thinking.
