Dreamcast 2

Post by mazonemayu »

I'm wondering; Sega says it'll never happen, BUT I've been reading so much (speculation) about it on different sites & youtube (actually on the entire web).
There's so more & more folks starting to ask for a Dreamcast 2 (I suppose they're fed up with the new gen of consoles).
With the demand for a new console (by us, the gamers) starting to go up & up, I think Sega simply can't refuse to build it (after all they have an image to maintain ;) ). I mean they must be smart enough to see this is their big chance for a major comeback in the hardware business. Now I'm not saying it's going to happen here, but it WOULD be the most logical thing to do at this given time IMO.

Opinions on this?

They can refuse to build it, SEGA is making money atm so they won't stop now, they will keep making games.
Yes ppl want a new sega console, but sega won't make one, if they want a new console to be successfull they would start advertising it now, they would make us want the new console.

I said on the Sega Boards that if they can sell a billion copies of Mario & Sonic Olympics (Cough, cough.....lame) then they can sell us a freaking Dreamcast2.

but if SEGA does make it, what would it implement that other consoles won't have? besides the damn exclusives....what new things will it bring to the gaming experience? every console must have a key feature!!! maybe the most realistic graphics not possible on any kind of hardware? not even on the PS3?....I dunno....but it would be fun to be hypothetical at this moment!!!

All i want it to be is a more powerful version of the original Dreamcast. Thats all.

Make it come with a Broad Band Modem and a years free server access to Sega.net

Also backwards compatibility would be pretty cool but it would leave the door open again to piracy.

I agree with you on that Coolinator, after all the original Dreamcast has almost every feature the new gen consoles have, only less powerful. Backwards compatibility is a must.
Also I suggest it shouldn't use any kind of medium (cd/dvd/br/etc), all the games should be hosted online & once you have paid for a game, you should be able to play it forever (or save it to a hdd or a flash device or something), this will save tremendous ammounts of money in terms of pressing, printing, shipments, etc...

hmm idk if that is such a good idea just yet. some ppl don't have access to broadband internet yet. even worse others have no internet at all. they would need to have a way to sell hard copies of the games. i recommend flash drives or the like. back to good old karts. they can hold plenty of memory now days and they are getting to be pretty cheap. but as cheap as they are, disc media is still the cheapest. wouldn't it be funny to see them make a deal to use HD DVDs. the blue ray HD DVD war could start back up

I've been looking into this a lot myself, guys. There are so many coincidences surrounding the myth of the DC2.

Personally, I believe that if they did make a new console, it would be one of the smartest things they've ever done. They would finally wait until the newer generation gets popular, and come out with a console that fixes all of their flaws.

Think about it. The "Dreamcast 2" even sounds like it could kick the "Wii's" ass!

yes i know. it would be fun to watch sony lose money trying to fight yet another battle on another front. and if sega was the one to make sony bleed it would be like sweet revenge!
