So,
I just received a very nice copy of Shenmue 2 (PAL edition). Sadly, the blue part of the case has 1 and 2 written on the side, and the first disc has 1 written on it in permanent marker.
I've seen people use acetone, nail polish remover, axe body spray (I shit you not), dry erase marker over it then wipe it off, and finally anti bacterial hand cleaner.
I was just curious if removing the marker with any of these slightly harsh products could hypothetically ruin the game, or if I should just keep the marker there just in case.
Thanks!
Cleaning permanent marker off of game discs.

I always use Rubbing Alcohol to remove marker or rental store stamps from discs. Works like a charm!

Would rubbing alcohol remove fingerprints on the label side of a disc? My copy of evil twin has fingerprints and maybe mold? on the label side of the disc. The label side is similar to Last Blade 2 or Rippin Riders or EGG in that it is a transparent thin layer of plastic over the data foil rather than a printed label like almost every other DC game.

The rubbing alcohol worked for me, sadly my highest was 70% so it took some elbow grease! thxxx

Not sure. Worth a try I suppose.
Great! I think the one I have is 91% alcohol. It usually erases pretty much anything in just a few swipes. Just don't use it on manuals or cartridge labels or it'll rub off a lot more than just the marker!Vampyre Mike wrote:The rubbing alcohol worked for me, sadly my highest was 70% so it took some elbow grease! thxxx

I don't know if this would appky here, but I've gotten Sharpie off before with an extra strength magic eraser.
(Careful though, you have to scrub fairly hard for it to be effective)
Just a suggestion.
