Just don't get it.

Online games, how to get online, and anything involving Dreamcast online can be discussed here.

PSO v.2 disc I have, the slyverant patcher won't let it connect. The burned copy I have of v.2 which auto-connects to slyverant works fine but when I play this after the patcher is in the DC it freezes when it seems to finally connect, staying at the connecting screen but playing the block/ship select screen music. I've put the patcher in and waited until my DC went back to the title screen after putting PSO ver 2 in right after putting the patcher in and all. If you know, should I be waiting for the DC to go back to the main menu with the patcher disc still inside it THEN swap to PSO or what am I doing wrong here?

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but,

If the patcher is working correctly it will boot to a dark blue screen with a PSO logo and will say something to the effect of "insert gd-rom." At this point you open the DC cover and insert your PSO (original GD-Rom) disc.

You will see status messages on the screen saying which version was detected and it will ask you to press start to patch.

Press start and PSO will boot and should be able to connect to sylverant.

If this is not what you are seeing and the DC goes back to the menu screen you most likely burnt yourself a coaster. Try again. :)

Exactly what this guy says. If you're ending up back at the BIOS screen, then you have burned a coaster. You should get to a screen that has a dark background and the PSO logo telling you to swap out the patcher for a GD-ROM.

There can be a variety of reasons for bad burns, including the quality of the CD-Rs in use and the age/condition of the Laser in the Dreamcast.

Oh shit. Well thanks alot guys. See, I never found any posts of people having burned duds so I assumed I was just doing it wrong. Mind supplying me with another download link to the patcher?

If the one from the Sylverant downloads section at Google Code doesn't work, you could try this one instead. Some Dreamcasts won't boot MIL CDs.

I doubt that he has the problem of not being able to boot CDs, as he said he can play a burned copy of the game. ;)

If one image works and the other doesn't, then it is quite possible that either the burner in question just doesn't like the way the first image is formatted or that the CD-R he used on the first one was just plain of poor quality. There's no other reasons that a data/data image would work any better than an audio/data one (or vice versa). Either the Dreamcast can boot CDs or it can't... There's no middle ground of only being able to boot data/data discs (for instance). ;)
